About the roleSouthern Steel Berhad is seeking a talented and driven Legal Manager to join our dynamic team in Perai, Penang.
As a full-time role, you will play a crucial part in providing comprehensive legal support and expertise to our growing organisation.
What you'll be doing
Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts to ensure they align with the company's interests and comply with relevant laws.
Providing legal advice and guidance on contract terms and conditions to mitigate risks.
Monitoring and interpreting changes in laws and regulations that affect different business units.
Advising on compliance requirements and implementing necessary changes to policies and procedures.
Identifying potential legal risks in business operations and developing strategies to mitigate them.
Conducting risk assessments and providing recommendations to minimize exposure.
Overseeing and managing litigation cases, including coordinating with external legal counsel.
Keeping stakeholders informed about the progress and outcomes of legal disputes.
Providing legal advice on a wide range of issues, including corporate governance, intellectual property, employment law, and more.
Supporting business units in decision-making processes by offering legal insights and solutions.
Assisting in the creation and implementation of company policies to ensure they are legally sound and effective.
Reviewing and updating existing policies to reflect current legal standards.
Conducting training sessions for employees on legal topics relevant to their roles.
Raising awareness about legal risks and best practices within the organization.
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, to ensure clear and effective communication.
Representing the company in legal matters and negotiations.
Providing legal support to various business units.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB).
3-5 years of relevant experience in a legal role, preferably in corporate and commercial law.
Strong understanding of corporate and commercial law, with experience in contract management.
Articulate, with an excellent command of spoken and written English.
Proficiency in Chinese will be an added advantage.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent stakeholder management skills, including at the top management level.
Able to manage multiple projects while reporting progress and keeping track of deadlines.
