Library Services & Information Management (Education & Training)
To develop and implement a library policy which reflects the educational aims and objectives of the whole school.
Plan and oversee a programme for monitoring and evaluating library services and performance, including user surveys and statistics on stock and usage.
Plan and monitor the delivery of an information skills programme throughout the school.
Develop and oversee a programme for meeting the needs of International pupils.
Assist with the behaviour management of pupils.
To undertake any other reasonable duty at the request of the Principal.
To develop and implement library classes for primary students.
To assist students with research and investigation using library resources.
To promote the library and its resources both within the library and the whole school and externally, where relevant.
To inspire a love of literacy.
To embody the aims and values of the school.
Management:
Prepare and manage the library budgets.
To select, acquire, organise and maintain library resources to cover the full school community.
To arrange the effective retrieval by systematic indexing, classification and cataloguing of all library resources and disseminating information on those resources to staff and pupils.
To complete an annual risk assessment and to highlight health and safety issues for library users and visitors.
To plan and teach regular lessons to pupils on reading and research, and other year groups as required.
To arrange pupil's participation in children's literary events and author visits.
To provide guidance and assistance to pupils and staff on information retrieval and reading materials.
To liaise with Principal on curriculum delivery and library stock and support on pupils' needs.
To develop networks with other library professionals.
To be committed to ongoing professional development.
Others:
To check all inventory during all quarter breaks (1 day).
To thoroughly check all inventories and ensure all books are accounted for during Christmas/Summer Break.
Assist in ordering all school/textbooks books etc.
To manage book orders for all of the above.
To teach up to 8 periods per week outside of library responsibilities.
To respond and complete all other job responsibilities given by your Principal.
