Responsibilities:Provide group instruction and individual guidance to students to help them locate resources and use research techniques.
Consult teachers on appropriate use of materials and help them schedule materials for classroom instruction.
Establish policies and procedure for the physical and online library program.
Provide staff in-service training necessary for the effective use of library resources, technology, equipment and other library-related areas.
Library Programs:Make age-appropriate recommendation of reading materials and effectively plan school library programs to ensure instruction in library skills including study habits, independence in learning, research and techniques of inquiry and critical evaluation are met.
Challenge students to think and express their thoughts through library related activities.
Discuss plot, character, language and themes with students.
Use instruments and methods that effectively measure the students' attainment of learning goals.
Help students set literacy achievement expectations and evaluate their own progress.
Work closely with the English and other language departments to support literacy objectives of the school.
Review, select and order appropriate instructional materials and equipment with input from the School's management team and teachers.
Create a modern library environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity level and interests of students.
Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement, such as preparing bibliographies, making displays, making teachers, parents and students aware of resources.
Student Management:Observe and carry out discipline in accordance with the rules and regulations of the school and school system.
Interact with students to promote positive attitudes toward school library.
Supervise, instruct and evaluate student librarians.
Library Collection Management:Develop library collection through selection and acquisition to reflect cultural diversity.
Maintain, organize, and inventory physical and online library collection.
Keep library collection up-to-date, review and maintain technology needs & problems of the Library.
Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the library program and make necessary changes based on the findings.
Assist teachers in selecting appropriate media for units of study and securing professional materials.
Communication:Cooperate with and support the school's management team, teachers and students.
Assume necessary non-instructional responsibilities.
Share the responsibilities with all other employees for promoting the educational goals and developing public acceptance of the school system.
Share information with staff concerning student progress, problems and achievements as observed in the library.
Requirements:Minimum a Bachelor's Degree in Library Management or related fields.
Minimum 3 years of experience in an international school setting.
Knowledge in research and information literacy.
Knowledge in library management system.
Knowledge of literature in general, both classic and current, including child and adult fiction.
Knowledge of current literacy field including up-to-date titles and authors.
Ideally holds a related qualification with an English literature component.
Familiar with digital resources and electronic database.
Good spoken and written communications skills in English and Bahasa.
