The Library Intern supports the efficient functioning of the school library, helping students and teachers access information and resources while fostering a love for reading and learning. Reporting to the Teacher-Librarian, the intern will contribute to both academic and administrative aspects of the library.
Nexus is a diverse school which serves learners from reception through to pre-university. They have a diverse range of needs and the library plays a key role in their learning and their engagement with reading.
Though not essential, this position would be ideal for someone who is currently undergoing a formal qualification in librarianship and requires some industrial experience.

B. Key Responsibilities
Academic & Teaching Support:
Assist students and teachers in locating information and library resources.
Supervise and run library classes within the Primary School, as per Teacher-Librarian guidance.
Prepare and deliver library lessons in line with the IPC curriculum with the library assistants.
Supervise students during library hours (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM), including lunchtimes.
Administrative and Organisational Tasks:
Manage the circulation desk for borrowing and returning resources.
Help to maintain the library with reshelving and tidying.
Assist to catalogue resources and manage stock-taking processes.
Organise special activities and guest visits.
Maintain and update new book displays.
Check deliveries for accuracy and condition.
Support the Teacher-Librarian with collection development and special projects.
Maintain the library's equipment and facilities in accordance with safety guidelines.
Professional Development:
Develop proficiency in the Library Management System (e.g., Oliver, Destiny, Koha).
Attend weekly library meetings and participate in training sessions.
Stay updated with library trends and best practices.
Undertake personal projects to help improve the library for the school community.
C. Job Specification
Minimum Qualifications:
Working towards or interested in pursuing a formal qualification in librarianship (preferred but not essential).
Experience:
Prior experience in a library or school setting is advantageous.
Strong interest in working within an international school environment.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong command of spoken and written English.
Proficiency in Malay, Mandarin, Korean, or Japanese is a plus.
Familiarity with Library Management Systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Positive attitude, teamwork, and adaptability.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
