The Role – Market Development Manager - Japan Purpose: To build and coordinate a pipeline of high value opportunities for PAEK in Strategic market segment(s) and its Strategic Specifiers through pro-active advanced prospecting ( cold calling ) to acquire new opportunities throughout the supply chain (existing and new) within Japan A mid/long term need to re-establish a strong leadership for Japan. 1 st one priority - as an NEED - to fulfil the 2 nd one if we find a MDM candidate with strong leadership competencies.
Accountable for: Proactively translating SBU Sales Strategy into a clear Customer Territory (Japan) Development Plan to proactively develop a pipeline of high value Targets (Business Opportunities in B2B) and grow revenue/margin in Japan. Collaborating with Strategic Marketing to identify prospective new customer accounts within strategic segments (Consumer Electronics, Semicon, Home Applicate and ENDS to create compelling collateral including Web Content / Technical Seminars to enable proactive lead generation campaigns including conference and digital activities to increase penetration and the number of high value Leads. Use professional network development and cold-calling (in person) to prospect for New Customer Leads within strategic market(s) or new opportunities/contacts at strategic Partner(s) and to help us to validate applications where we do not know yet the right to win. Lead and own Market Development Plan for Japan and hold reviews with cross- functional stakeholders internally (and externally when appropriate) to coordinate the follow-up of the development activities. Significant Role Metrics: Account/Market/Segment/Territory Annual Pipeline Build Objective Lead Generation and Lead to Target Conversion Rate vs PY Target Closes Objective including delivery of first 12 months of Sales from commercialization date. (average size of deals > £1m) New Products introduction & revenue generation New Accounts/Contacts penetration Skills and Qualifications Industry Knowledge
Deep understanding of the electronics industry (B2B), including key trends, technologies, and market dynamics. Familiarity with the product lifecycle and the unique challenges in marketing electronic products. Market Research and Analysis
Strong ability to conduct market research to identify new opportunities, emerging markets, and customer needs. Proficiency in analyzing market data, competitive landscape, and customer feedback to inform strategy. Strategic Planning
Capability to develop and implement market development strategies that align with company goals.
Experience in creating go-to-market plans, including product positioning, pricing strategies, and distribution channels. Business Development
Proven track record in identifying and developing new business opportunities and partnerships.
Ability to negotiate and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including distributors, retailers, and OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers). Sales and Marketing
Strong sales skills to drive market penetration and achieve sales targets. Experience in designing and executing marketing campaigns that effectively promote electronic products. Technical Expertise
Understanding of the technical aspects of electronic products, enabling effective communication with engineering teams and customers. Ability to translate technical specifications into benefits that resonate with customers. Project Management
Excellent project management skills to oversee the execution of market development initiatives. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, Japanese and English - to effectively convey ideas and persuade stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with clients, partners, and internal teams. Analytical Thinking

An MBA or other advanced degree can be advantageous. Experience: Several years of experience in market development, business development, sales, or marketing within the electronics industry. Previous roles that demonstrate a successful track record in similar capacities are highly valued.
