Our Role Graymont is seeking a highly organized and self-directed individual to fill the position of mechanical designer.As part of the Engineering support group, the mechanical designer will work closely with project teams and plant leadership to provide technical support, develop operational improvements related to Lime, Limestone and solid fuel material handling and dust collection systems, support option analysis with preliminary designs and cost estimates.
Key focus areas the role will include: Work with project teams to develop and prepare general equipment layouts, 2D and 3D, process flow diagrams, and P&ID for option analysis and feasibility studies, Assists and supports the EPC team, Capital Projects Managers and other cross functional groups to develop scope of work documents by travelling to site, perform measurements. Assist sites with designs and basic drafting (news and updates) for site related projects where EPC is not involved. Support EPC and Operations with developing Class 5 cost estimates and documentation support on Capital Projects. Assist with the process of migrating historical documents into the engineering document management system. Support Operations, Maintenance and Engineering teams in reviewing drawings supplied by external consultants Provide project commissioning support and commissioning QC support as required This role will require reasonable travel across our locations in Malaysia and Philippines from time to time depending on the needs of the business. Ideally, the successful candidate will have the following attributes and qualifications: Experience in previous roles that demonstrates a strong commitment to health and safety related to the industry. Self-motivated, self-starter, curious, and willingness to learn. Formal education with Diploma or Advance Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical) is preferred. Experienced with AutoCAD, 3D rendering software such as Inventor, Revit, Recap, Navisworks, and a strong mechanical aptitude and high proficiency in design. Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Experience designing material handling and sizing equipment will be an asset. Experience with project cost estimating will be an asset. Proven experience in a team-based environment. Excellent organizational and decision-making skills. Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and demands Excellent English communication skills (both written and oral) and the ability to interact with all company functions including Engineering, Production, and Maintenance.
