POSITION SUMMARY:Provides RF product electro-mechanical support for engineering development and RF product sustaining efforts. Provides direction to the RF Sustaining team regarding thermal and structural challenges. Acts as a technical leader for all aspects of the mechanical engineering, design, and documentation involved.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Prepares detailed mechanical models/drawings from notes, verbal instructions, rough or detailed sketches or marked up prints.Demonstrates expertise in the design, documentation, and maintenance in sheet metal, machined parts, molded parts, cold plates, heat sinks and custom fasteners.Supports commodity team in supplier selection and qualification. Addresses numerous Supplier Call Backs (SCB) for mechanical/drawing discrepancies.Makes mathematical calculations to determine dimensions, hole and component locations and tolerances including appropriate tolerance stackup analysis.Writes specifications on material, finish and tolerances and helps to communicate requirements to suppliers.Must have strong understanding of heat transfer related to air and water cooled electronic systems, including performing tests to validate simulations/calculations.Experience with Finite Element/Volume Analysis.Ability to understand and follow experiments and procedures to prove, test, and monitor design concepts.Possesses a solid understanding of related fabrication processes to enhance supplier DFM (Design for Manufacturing).Possesses a solid understanding of process capabilities to enhance product manufacturing/assembly DFM, DFC, DFx.Possesses a solid understanding of electrical engineering and circuits to facilitate cooperative design.Ability to evaluate simulated and empirical data to provide multiple solution paths for challenging problems.Possesses a solid understanding of DFM/DFA – ability to minimize complexity, part count, incorporate Poke Yoke and achieve high levels of product manufacturability, testability and serviceability.Works as part of a team, balancing time and scope to meet specification and scheduling demands.Other duties as assigned.WORK ENVIRONMENT:Works in a standard office environment utilizing standard office equipment, a noisy fast-paced lab/manufacturing area, and/or clean room.Works under limited supervision.Overtime may be necessary in times of increased demand.SKILLS:Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability and capability to interact with various Plasma Power Engineering Design Centers in USA, South Korea, Germany.Must have a working knowledge of ANSI Y14.5.Must show advanced computer skills with SolidWorks.Must have a working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing including Tolerance Stackup Analysis.Must have strong understanding of heat transfer related to air and water cooled electronic systems.Experience with Finite Element/Volume Analysis.Ability to understand and follow experiments and procedures to prove, test, and monitor design concepts.Ability to evaluate simulated and empirical data to provide multiple solution paths for challenging problems.Ability to manage projects from start to finish including conformance to scheduling, and resource utilization management.EXPERIENCE:3 – 7 years of related design experience in the development of electronic systems.Must have working knowledge of manufacturing processes.Expertise in the design, documentation and maintenance of sheet metal, heatsinks, cold plates, machined/molded parts and other associated mechanical parts and fasteners.EDUCATION:Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.#J-18808-Ljbffr
