As a Mechanical Engineer, incumbent is responsible to provide competent mechanical engineering work for contract execution and proposal preparation of the Company's plant contracting business.ResponsibilitiesPrepare equipment lists of projects and develop relevant and accurate specifications for inquiries.
Work closely with the Process Engineers and customers to derive an acceptable plant layout and elevation arrangement. Provide foundation data, load list etc. for process equipment, in compliance with the respective contracts and prevailing site conditions.
Draft and review piping and instrumentation (P & I) diagrams; to develop piping specifications and to select pipes according to the piping class specifications. Supervise and provide guidance and assistance to the 3D Piping Department and/or model makers in constructing the 3D and/or physical model, including all major piping arrangements, routing and its supports.
Work closely with the Process and Instrumentation teams to develop vessel guide drawings for fabricators perusal, whilst ensuring compliance with the specifications in the respective contracts and applicable codes. Liaise and clarify with fabricators and relevant 3rd parties on matters arising from the guide and/or fabrication drawings during quotation and fabrication stages. Follow up and check on the fabrication progress and delivery of vessels.
Review drawings and calculations by vendors and/or fabricators and ensure project specification requirements are met.
Work closely with Quality Control Department and conduct quality checks on equipment during fabrication stage and/or upon delivery to ensure the right specifications are met.
Coordinate with the Procurement & Logistics team in acquiring quotations from various suppliers for evaluation of required parts and equipment. Discuss with selected suppliers to ensure equipment are within specifications and project budget allocations.
Supervise and provide instructions from the installation stage to commissioning, starting-up as well as test-running of the plants to ensure customers' final acceptance.
Conduct inspections at sites, both in terms of quality and quantity delivered.
Ensure that plant layouts and plant models, drawings and other calculations
generated and provided are accurate and are in line with the Company's standard.
Coordinate with customers on the preparation of engineering time schedule, job execution and delivery time schedule in compliance with the respective contracts.
Support Sales Department in the costing of equipment and cost control.
To ensure requirements are met and the price quoted are within the budget.
Responsible to comply with the Group's and Company's Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) policies and safe work procedures.
Required qualificationsDegree, Professional Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Some knowledge of plant equipment and its related parts as well as its standards and codes.
Capable of preparing design calculations for columns, vessels, heat exchangers, and industrial piping.
Some technical knowledge and / or skills in Computer Aided Drafting software such as AutoCAD#J-18808-Ljbffr
