Key Duties Provide mechanical engineering expertise to the process and utilities engineering team to support the on time/on budget delivery of projects, whilst meeting all safety, environment, energy efficiency, and quality objectives.
Develop conceptual and detailed designs for black utilities systems. This includes but is not limited to water treatment plants, HVAC systems, generations systems for compressed air, chilled water, hot water, and steam, together with the associated distribution systems. Collaborate with clients and the multidisciplinary project team to define utilities requirements for new and existing facility projects. Prepare calculations for utilities systems, equipment and piping sizing. Prepare schematic drawings for utilities systems. Prepare utilities equipment and piping layouts. Prepare utilities equipment lists. Utilize design codes, client standards, industry guidelines and follow established design criteria. Work with other disciplines to assure the project design is complete and accurate. Ensure deliverables meet the scope and client expectations. Obtain budget pricing for utilities equipment where necessary. Support procurement activities, including coordination with the vendors and vendor drawing reviews. Check vendor submittals and engineering drawings for errors and fitness for purpose. Assist in implementing improvements and emphasis on reliability, energy efficiency and life cycle costs. Troubleshoot and solve client existing equipment and/or operating utility system problems. Assist in preparing installation and commissioning test documents. Other project related tasks as deemed necessary. Comply with and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the Rieckermann Quality Management System and Company Values. Qualifications include: Minimum BSc. in Mechanical or Process Engineering with 2 years related experience or Diploma in Mechanical or Process Engineering with 5 years related experience Understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, regulations and industry standards would be considered a plus Skills include: Experience in process and utility systems design in pharmaceutical, F&B or similar industries. Understanding the principles of system design, sizing, equipment selection, and integration with facility processes for applicable utilities systems including various grades of water, steam, heating water, cooling water, chilled water, compressed air, process & laboratory gases, vacuum, drainage and waste collection. Knowledge of international mechanical engineering standards such as ASME, ASTM. Familiarity with the use of design and drafting standards, criteria and specifications. Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Proficiency in use of AutoCAD. Experience/proficiency in 3D modelling is also desirable. Comfortable working alone or in a team environment, maintain a positive and professional relationships with co-workers and management and able to coach junior staff on technical questions. Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with clients, stakeholders, and team members. Excellent planning and organization skills.
