Requirements: A degree in Microbiology, Soil Science, or related field.Proven experience in soil and plant microbiology, particularly within agricultural systems.Familiarity with laboratory techniques, including microbial culturing, incubation, and testing.Knowledge of biocontrol strategies, especially involving Trichoderma sp. and other beneficial microbes.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in conducting research and quality control.Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and presenting research findings.Key Responsibilities: Microbial Research and Discovery:Investigate and identify plant growth-promoting microbes (PGPM) to enhance the health and yield of oil palm trees.Explore microbial strains that offer biocontrol solutions, specifically targeting Ganoderma sp. disease in oil palms.2. Soil and Plant Microbial Studies:
Conduct in-depth research on soil microbial communities in oil palm plantations.Study interactions between soil microbes and oil palm roots to improve nutrient uptake and overall plant resilience.3. Biocontrol Development:
Screen and evaluate microbial agents, particularly Trichoderma sp., as potential biocontrol solutions against Ganoderma sp. and other pathogens.Collaborate with other researchers to test the effectiveness of biocontrol strategies in field and laboratory settings4. Laboratory and Field Work:
Collect and analyze water, soil, and plant samples to monitor microbial activity and health.Perform microbial incubations, testing, and quality control for Mycorrhiza, Trichoderma sp., and other microbial products.Conduct experiments to assess microbial efficacy under different environmental conditions.5. Quality Control and Testing:
Ensure the quality and viability of microbial inoculants produced for commercial use, including regular QC checks for Mycorrhiza and Trichoderma sp. strains.Perform tests to confirm microbial purity, concentration, and functionality.6. Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of all laboratory work, including microbial isolations, test results, and research findings.Prepare technical reports, research papers, and presentations on microbial research and development outcomes.
