SummaryFocused on the Johor site's New Product Introduction (NPI) programs for the purchasing team's activities.
Mainly focused on material escalations and expedites to get material to the site for aggressive schedules, but also involved in quotation follow up and alternate sources for needed materials.
Interfaces with site planning, program management, commodity management, and engineering teams as needed for successful NPI launches.
Detailed DescriptionPerforms tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
Particularly focused on providing updates to customer teams and planning on the latest actions purchasing is/has undertaken for success in NPI to production volumes.
Maintains responsibility for the management of site purchasing including meeting customer commits, negotiations and agreement with suppliers, meeting quality and delivery requirements.
Oversee design, development, integration and maintenance of SCM systems, tools, processes and training at the site.
Develops and execute site inventory management processes including forecasting, analysis, reporting, action plans.
Drives continuous improvement to minimize inventory costs and provide necessary management reporting.
Provide guidance and direction to business units to achieve site inventory financial results.
Directly manages a group of SCM employees or managers.
Responsible for employee training, performance, measurement, development, motivation and recognition.
Drives continuous improvements of SCM function through interactions with other departments, specifically for NPI launches to production level volumes.
In-depth knowledge and understanding of supply chain management, distribution methods, global transportation services and inventory management.
Experience with NPI or bringing products from customer request for quote to production level volume.
Strong knowledge of global business environment and customers' business.
Good understanding of IT concepts and integrated business applications.
Strong knowledge in all areas of import/export, regulatory and logistics management.
Good negotiation and problem resolution skills.
Good communication and presentation skills.
Cross functional/departmental teamwork and understanding of different priorities and goals to be successful.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
Ability to plan, manage, develop and motivate staff to help realize their maximum potential to contribute to purchasing and site achieving objectives.
Familiarity with SAP or similar MRP system.
Typical ExperienceSeven to ten years of relevant work experience.
Typical EducationBachelor's degree in Business, Materials Management, Engineering or related field, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Master's degree considered a plus but not necessary.
