Join us in this role where you'll design, optimise, produce, and turn advanced engineering, financial, logistical and machine learning models into robust software systems. These applications will help domain experts shape the future asset portfolio, wind farm plans, and business cases for integrated power solutions. Your main responsibility is to deliver reliable model implementations through good software development practices and expert knowledge in various mathematical disciplines. This role allows you to continuously enhance your numerical and software development skills.
Welcome to Digital Innovation
You'll be part of the Modelling & Optimisation team where you, together with your colleagues, will implement state-of-the-art mathematical models. We partner with subject matter experts from across the business and IT from ideation to production of robust enterprise software. We're a dynamic team of 17 driven and ambitious mathematicians, engineers, computer scientists, econometricians, and physicists. Our department includes digital innovation strategists and AI & data science specialists who together drive the digital innovation agenda. As a team, we work in a collaborative and creative environment with ample support for growth and opportunities for personal and professional development.
You'll play an important role in:
developing in-house modelling software to ensure that the potential of mathematical methodologies is utilised as a competitive advantage in the business
scoping of in-house modelling and/or machine learning tools to achieve new results or improve the current processes
establishing and maintaining external collaborations to explore and mature new opportunities and inspire the business
creating engaging, inspiring, and effective communication about complex numerical concepts to stakeholders.
To succeed in the role, you:
hold an advanced degree in the natural sciences, engineering, or a related field such as computer science, mathematics, physics, computational chemistry, oceanography, geophysics, or operations research
possess a strong foundation in mathematical modelling, optimisation, or computational science
have experience in research projects within your domain, with knowledge of state-of-the-art modelling tools, optimisation, statistical methods, and machine learning technologies
are proficient in at least one coding language (we primarily use Python)
have experience with code refactoring and code deployment and are trained in good software development practices.
Maybe you've read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don't quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.
