Primary Role:
Provide exceptional patient care in an environment where quality, respect, caring and compassion are at the core of all we do. The Nursing Assistant's role is to provide technical assistance and supportive patient care to meet the needs of individual patients throughout assigned areas.
Responsibilities:
Meeting the direct and indirect care needs of patients.
Ensuring high standards of patient care at all times.
Welcoming patients to the Strand Clinic/ Hospital, ensuring they are orientated and aware of facilities.
Communicating effectively with patients, carers and other staff members at all times.
Preparing treatment room for patients.
Answering the phone and dealing with a wide variety of enquiries.
Making reminder calls to patients and ensuring they know how to find us.
Ensuring data is recorded accurately, is legible and recorded in timely manner, kept up to date and appropriately filed.
Assists with patient safety related to age and condition.
Assists with patient specific safety precautions, collects, reports and documents data related to patient needs/emergencies and usual patient and family behaviour, and cares for the patient from a correctional environment.
Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times.
Provides and maintains a clean, safe environment and performs and/or assists others to perform proper aseptic technique, isolation procedures, and infection control measures.
Being an active part of the Strand Clinic/ Hospital ensuring participation in department meetings.
Assume responsibility for own learning and development needs.
Utilises effective time management skills.
Maintains professional appearance and dress code.
Complies with guidelines for absence or tardiness.
Attends staff meetings, reads email and other postings.
All employees are expected to remain flexible to meet the needs of the hospital, which may include floating to other departments to assist as the patient needs fluctuate.
Wears Identification badge when working.
Any additional responsibilities as per Clinical Coordinator or Chief Nurse.
Other responsibilities unique to the Strand Clinic:
Documents scanning.
Precertification for in clinic procedures when the clinical notes are ready.
Obtain LOA before patient's appointment.
ENT and laser room turnover between patients.
Input patient information on the screen in voice room.
Cleaning of scopes between patients.
Cleaning of instruments by end of day.
Prepare consent and take picture for Aesthetic patients.
Print out the Aesthetic patient list for visiting aesthetician along with previous Aesthetic treatment records for Aesthetician.
Assist with administrative duties including scheduling and booking appointments, managing the clinic schedule, calling patients with updates or reminders.
Other Duties:
The employee, as part of his/her job description shall take part in the activities of any committee that he/she is assigned by his/her supervisor and is expected to attend all scheduled meetings. The employee further agrees to be an active participant in assigned activities related to CTMH Doctors Hospital attaining and maintaining Joint Commission International (JCI) Accreditation.
Qualifications / Personal Qualities:
GCSE/CXC or High School equivalent Diploma with 6-12 weeks of CNA training.
Experience in hospital setting and understanding of hospital operations is preferred.
Clinical nursing education required.
Hardworking and motivated.
Enthusiastic and keen to progress.
Detailed oriented.
Takes pride in their work.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in the use of personal computers and software such as MS Excel, and Outlook.
Additional Skills & Abilities:
Superior customer service skills to deal with patients, families, and hospital personnel.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to work with diverse groups and be a team player.
Ability to learn new systems, workflow processes, and ability to multi-task on an ongoing basis.
Ability to relate tactfully, diplomatically, and objectively, with a wide range of patients, family members, visitors, staff, and doctors.
Demonstrated interpersonal values of compassion, respect, teamwork and diversity.
Ability to be flexible and manage multiple tasks to ensure patient satisfaction.
Can effectively handle stressful situations i.e. the difficult patient /family member.
Responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable and well-organized.
Accountability:
The Nursing Assistant will be accountable to the Chief Nurse with a secondary reporting line to the Clinical Coordinator.
Working Hours:
Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm/ 9:00am to 6:00pm and Saturdays as may be mutually agreed from time to time. Saturdays flexible work schedule at Doctors Hospital to gain supervised experience in other areas.
Travel:
None expected.
