Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Operations & Maintenance Engineer to manage the day-to-day operations and maintenance of our wastewater treatment plant. This role involves monitoring, adjusting, and optimizing plant processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, while minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency. Key responsibilities include implementing preventive maintenance programs, analyzing process data for improvement opportunities, and ensuring a safe working environment through strict adherence to safety and environmental protocols. The ideal candidate will also play a vital role in training staff, developing emergency response plans, and assisting with budget management. Knowledge of SAP is essential.
Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day operations of the wastewater treatment plant, including monitoring process parameters, adjusting controls, and optimizing treatment processes.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for equipment, conduct routine inspections, troubleshoot failures, and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime.
Continuously monitor and analyse process performance data to identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements.
Ensure treated effluent meets regulatory standards through sampling, analysis, and corrective actions.
Enforce safety protocols and regulatory compliance standards to maintain a safe working environment and prevent environmental pollution.
Develop and implement emergency response plans to address equipment failures and process upsets, minimizing disruptions to plant operations.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to plant operators and maintenance staff, including training and procedure development.
Assist in budget development and management, monitoring expenses and optimizing resource allocation.
Must have knowledge in SAP.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical engineering, or related field.
Previous experience in wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance (3 to 5 years).
Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, equipment, and regulations.
Familiarity with process control systems, instrumentation, and data analysis.
Critical thinking skills and ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues.
Effective communication skills and ability to interact with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
Commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement.
Regular work hours are Mon - Friday: 8.30am - 6pm & Saturday: 8.30am -1pm, however, incumbent should be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays if needed.
