Salary range: CI$52,296 – CI$70,344 per annum
The Pharmacy Technician performs the dispensing of prescriptions under the direction of a pharmacist, in a timely manner whilst complying accurately with the instructions of the prescriber.
Primary Responsibilities:
The successful candidate provides aseptic dispensary duties such as compounds aseptically TPN and other sterile products as needed.
Ensures personal hand cleaning hygiene and sterile attire are maintained including the aseptic air quality, sterility and optimal pressure in the Laminar Hoods and the clean-room isolator according to established standards.
Dispenses prescriptions to out-patients and in-patients under the direction of a pharmacist, non-sterile compounding & general dispensing.
Interprets and screens prescriptions for potential problems and resolves discrepancies with the prescribers in consultation with a pharmacist.
Issues drugs to patients after appropriate counselling (patient counselling training is provided where necessary).
Manufactures non-sterile compounds according to best practice guidelines and evidence-based pharmacy practice product stability, solubility etc.
Qualifications and Experience:
The successful candidate must be a certified Pharmacy Technician in the USA, UK, Jamaica, and any other country which is recognized and required to practice as a Pharmacy Technician.
All candidates must have a minimum of three (3) years' experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
Persons who have completed an accredited online Pharmacy Technician course are required to obtain at least one (1) year of practical training, followed by state board certification in any US state of choice.
Must have good communication skills and be computer proficient with pharmacy computer operations, aseptic and nonsterile compounding.
Must be eligible or have a valid license to practice in the Cayman Islands in accordance with the Cayman Islands Pharmacy Council.
