Job Responsibilities/Objectives
The Plant Head will to provide leadership, strategic direction, and tactical oversight to the Malaysia facility, which includes all production operations and the related support functions directly or indirectly (Engineering, Quality, EHS, Supply Chain/ Warehousing, Procurement, Technical Services, OE).
Job Description * Planning and Organising: Developing production plans and schedules to meet customer demands and ensure efficient utilisation of resources. Coordinating with other departments to align production plans with supply chain and quality assurance requirements.
* Production Management: Overseeing production activities, ensuring adherence to production targets, and monitoring production processes for efficiency, optimisation, and quality control. Identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing corrective actions.
* Quality Control and Compliance: Implementing and monitoring quality control procedures to ensure adherence to regulatory standards, such as GMP and FDA guidelines. Conducting periodic audits and inspections to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
* Safety and Environmental Compliance: Ensuring a safe working environment by implementing and enforcing safety protocols and regulations. Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting sustainability initiatives within the plant.
* Team Management: Leading and supervising a team of production personnel, including production managers, supervisors, and operators. Providing guidance, coaching, and training to ensure their professional development and fostering a high-performance culture.
* Resource Management: Managing resources, including raw materials, equipment, and manpower, to minimise costs, optimise utilisation, and ensure uninterrupted production. Monitoring and controlling budgetary expenses.
* Continuous Improvement: Identifying and implementing best practices, technological advancements, and process improvements to enhance productivity, product quality, and operational efficiency. Analysing production data and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
* Stakeholder Management: Collaborating with internal stakeholders, such as research and development, engineering, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure seamless communication and coordination between departments. Building relationships with external stakeholders, such as regulatory authorities and suppliers.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
* Education: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in pharmaceutical science, industrial engineering, or a related field. A master's degree or higher in a relevant discipline may be preferred.
* Experience: 15 experience in pharmaceutical/biotech manufacturing only with a proven track record in production management, quality control, and compliance. Prior experience in a leadership or managerial role is highly desirable.
* Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements, such as GMP, FDA guidelines, and other relevant quality assurance standards.
* Technical Expertise: Strong technical knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and equipment is necessary to effectively manage operations and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
* Leadership and Management Skills: Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills to effectively lead and inspire a diverse team of employees.
* Problem-Solving Abilities: Analytical and critical thinking skills to analyse complex problems, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
* Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with various stakeholders, including employees, senior management, and regulatory authorities.
* Safety and Compliance: In-depth knowledge and experience in implementing and enforcing safety protocols, as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Ability to Work Under Pressure: Ability to make quick decisions, handle multiple competing priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment.
* Continuous Learning: Willingness to stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and advancements in pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and technologies.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires approximately up to 20-30 % travel
