The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the chemical manufacturing plant, ensuring that production meets safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets.
This role requires strong leadership to drive efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement while maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
Responsibilities
Operations ManagementOversee end-to-end production processes to meet established targets for output, quality, safety, maintenance and delivery.
Ensure efficient utilization of resources, including labour, raw materials, and equipment.Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE)Implement and enforce SHE policies in compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
Ensure timely reporting and resolution of incidents and accidents.
Promote a strong safety culture among employees.Quality AssuranceEnsure all production meets or exceeds quality standards and customer expectations.
Drive initiatives to minimize defects and enhance product consistency.Leadership and Team ManagementLead, mentor, and develop plant staff, including production, maintenance, and quality teams.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Cost and Efficiency OptimizationMonitor and control operational expenses to align with budgetary goals.
Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve productivity.
Implement lean manufacturing practices.Maintenance and EquipmentOversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
Ensure equipment is upgraded or replaced as necessary to meet production demands.Regulatory ComplianceEnsure all plant activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including those for safety, environmental protection, and labor laws.Strategic PlanningDevelop and execute long-term strategies for plant operations, including capacity expansion and process innovation.
Align plant operations with broader organizational goals.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in plant management, preferably in a chemical manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of chemical production processes, equipment, and safety standards.
Proficiency in ERP systems and manufacturing software.
Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse teams.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
In-depth understanding of SHE regulations and compliance in chemical manufacturing.
Ability to analyze data and operational metrics to drive performance improvements.
Strategic mindset with the ability to plan for future operational needs.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday (8.30am-5.30pm)
