Job ResponsibilitiesDirect and oversee all aspects of gold processing operations, including crushing, milling, leaching, gold room processes.
Monitor plant performance metrics to ensure production targets, recovery rates, and cost efficiencies are achieved.
Develop and implement strategies to improve throughput, recovery, and product quality.
Troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime.
Prepare production reports, production reconciliation reports, production projections, JMG reports and other reports including operational and metallurgical test works.
Provide strong leadership to plant personnel, including department heads, engineers, and operators.
Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Identify training and development needs, ensuring employees are skilled and motivated.
Manage staffing levels, performance evaluations, and career development plans.
Health, Safety, and Environmental ComplianceEnsure all plant operations comply with local, national, and international health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Promote and enforce adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
Identify and mitigate environmental risks related to plant operations.
Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
Budget and Cost ControlDevelop and manage the plant's operational budget, controlling costs without compromising safety or production quality.
Analyse financial performance and recommend cost-saving measures.
Oversee procurement of equipment, spare parts, and consumables to ensure smooth operations.
Maintenance and ReliabilityCollaborate with the maintenance team to ensure all equipment is well-maintained and operational.
Implement preventative and predictive maintenance programmes to minimise downtime.
Identify opportunities for upgrades or process improvements to enhance plant reliability.
Stakeholder CommunicationLiaise with internal and external stakeholders, including management, technical teams, regulators, and community representatives.
Prepare and present operational and financial reports as required.
Qualifications and Experience:Education:Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
A Master's degree is advantageous.
Experience:At least 10 years of experience in mineral processing operations, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership or managerial role within a gold mining or similar environment.
Technical Skills:Strong understanding of gold processing methods, plant optimization techniques, and modern mining technologies.
Leadership:Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse teams in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.
Regulatory Knowledge:Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations specific to the mining industry.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
