Job Description
Lead the development, management, and implementation of a comprehensive product safety compliance program, ensuring adherence to all relevant laws and regulations while prioritizing product safety. Stay informed about evolving safety regulations and industry best practices.
Drive initiatives to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards throughout the product lifecycle. Conduct tests and studies to assess materials, designs, and manufacturing processes, proactively addressing risks.
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure product designs comply with current and future safety and compliance standards.
Oversee the acquisition of product safety certifications (such as UL, CSA, IEC) for hardware and machinery, leading or supporting these efforts.
Serve as the internal expert, providing guidance and support to all teams on product safety compliance issues.
Manage communication with regulatory agencies, external organizations, and customers regarding product safety and overall compliance.
Coordinate product testing with regulatory bodies (like TUV and UL) to ensure safety and compliance, overseeing testing processes and maintaining technical data for audits.
Analyze safety and compliance data to identify trends and areas for improvement, developing strategies to enhance product safety and overall compliance.
Work with internal teams and contract manufacturers to uphold quality procedures and address safety concerns.
Assist internal and external customers with product safety inquiries and provide guidance on general compliance issues.
Develop and implement strategies for compliance-related matters beyond safety, including legal and environmental considerations, to ensure overall product and business compliance.
Produce reports on compliance testing, developments, and processes, clearly explaining safety and compliance protocols to stakeholders and relevant authorities.
Advise management on compliance-related issues, with a strong focus on product safety.
Regularly review the status of various business operations to ensure compliance with regulations, prioritizing product safety at all times.
The Successful Applicant
Hold at least a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in product safety regulatory compliance.
Strong understanding of global safety regulations (such as UL, CSA, IEC) applicable to the home appliances industry.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex ideas.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities are essential.
Proven track record of effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Experience working with certification testing laboratories.
Familiarity with external design and manufacturing suppliers (OEM and ODM partners).
Knowledge of safety testing procedures for lithium batteries.
Proactive and self-motivated.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
