Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Define and execute the Wood Strategic plan for the Manufacturing Unit. This includes but is not limited to:
Zero Harm Safety Culture
Quality improvement to enhance customer delight
Support Capacity growth plans & Site expansion
Cost saving ideas & projects
Lead and Manage the Manufacturing Unit's Operations team:
Maintain and stimulate safety and housekeeping awareness of staff through training, motivation, discipline, and celebration.
Monitor the daily/weekly aspects of the production lines performance through KPI setting and follow up on Safety, Quality, Productivity, Service, and Cost.
Continuous follow-up and communication with other production and supporting departments: quality, engineering, and maintenance.
Create the right structure and systems to deliver excellence. Find ways to work more efficiently and make the best of the team's available time.
Monitor and lead changes, sponsor action plans, and initiate capex.
Ensure shop floor resource planning is adequate in correlation with production workload versus planning.
Oversee the analysis and review of budgets, schedules, production requirements, and headcount to determine the most cost-effective and efficient methods of obtaining the goal.
Ensure the department's procedures and working instructions are up to date and compliant with ISO 9001 requirements.
Consistently assess and recommend the best method for process improvement.
Job Requirements:
Education & Experience
• Bachelor Degree in relevant field. Wood Technology degree is preferable.
• A minimum of 5 years' production-related experience in a managerial role.
Behavioral Skills
• Adaptable, safety-conscious.
• Good communication and leadership skills including coaching, motivating, and the right people management approach.
• Good resource management skills.
• Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Effective crisis management skills.
Technical Skills
• Wood and timber products knowledge is an added advantage.
• Knowledgeable in department budgeting processes.
• Knowledgeable in Malaysian employment-related act.
• IT savvy (Microsoft Office application) and report-writing skills.
• Knowledgeable in PowerBi is an added advantage.
Physical Requirements
• Physically and mentally fit.
Summary of the Job Role:
The Production Manager oversees the daily operation within the Manufacturing Unit, in a way that is consistent with a culture of self-direction (empowerment and accountability). The objective is to provide leadership, direction, and drive performance excellence across your whole production area to deliver a balanced scorecard comprising Safety, Quality, Productivity, Service, Cost & People.
