Job Description The Programme Manager is responsible for the design, coordination, execution and delivery in grant making in Asia, as well as contribute towards supporting the management of the programme and monitoring outcomes under the Purposeful Business Challenge.
The PM is responsible for developing and managing strategic partnerships, as well as forging networks in Asia.
The PM works closely with the Porticus Asia Regional Director, the Challenge Lead, and the Porticus Asia team as well as colleagues in other offices.
Regional and international travel will be required for this position (up to 30% of the working time).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Exploration • Coordinate with the Challenge Lead in identifying opportunities for strategy-aligned partnerships under the programme, coordinate with the Porticus Asia Regional Director to manage regional exploration partnerships in Asia and where possible contribute to aligned sectors with clear attention to the learning cycle within which these ideas are developing.
Programmatic Contextualisation • In collaboration with corresponding CL and Porticus Asia Regional Director, enables sense making when it comes to South east Asia specific decisions related to the Purposeful Business Challenge.
• Works towards building grant ideas that are regionally contextual, but globally relevant and cohesive to the Purposeful Business Challenge • Works with global partners (many from the USA and EU) to ensure they are able to engage effectively in the SE Asia region, also building local partnerships.
• Participates in external platforms and events representing the regional presence of the Purposeful Business Challenge.
• Develops regional and Challenge related knowledge and participates in related expert networks.
• Continuously analyses opportunities, momentum, trends (particularly regulatory / policy)related to the Purposeful Business Challenge.

Programme Design and implementation • Develops grants that aim for systemic and lasting changes in alignment with the Purposeful Business Challenge strategy and leads the implementation of this strategy in the SE Asia region, including but not limited to: - Applying meaningful participation approaches to the extent possible Grant making, from co-developing applications with prospective partners, to accompanying the implementing, monitoring progress against objectives and ensuring successful closure.
- Convening programme partners and other key stakeholders, particularly to build the field and enable shared learnings amongst partners and cohesion.
- Applying Gender and Inclusion lenses to grant development and management.
• Ensures cohesiveness between local partnerships in SE Asia and global partners within the Purposeful Business Challenge – help to drive global solutions locally, while ensuring local voices and solutions are brought to the global stage.
Storytelling • Represents the SE Asia Purposeful Business programme internally and externally (e.g.
at other funder events, on panels etc).
• Engages in relevant fora and champions the work of partners.
• Prepares communication material in collaboration with communication colleagues.
Building & Maintaining Relationships • Builds and manages a trust-based external network of implementing partners and grantees, vets and conducts due-diligence on potential grantees.
• Manages partnerships and engages in dialogue on emerging and critical issues with diverse network in the SE Asia region.
• Understands the role and value of local SE Asian partners as contributing to the overall strategic intent of the Purposeful Business strategy.
• Contributes to annual reflection cycles, including to annual operational planning with input, discussion and managing the integration of learning objectives.. • Significant non-financial contribution to partners, such as capacity building on fundraising and identifying co-funders.
Qualifications Bachelors/Masters degree or equivalent in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, Public Policy, or related field required.
Coursework in corporate sustainability, environmental management, or climate change / nature preferred.
But most importantly, a keen understanding of interconnected planetary boundaries and tipping points exhausted by our current economic system.
Shows a sound comprehension of applied methods and techniques.
Demonstrates a range of business experiences and knowledge of sustainability topics across different industries.
Preference for relevant work a (7+ years) in the field of corporate sustainability and/or global philanthropy addressing climate & nature.
Additional certifications in sustainability reporting (e.g., GRI, ISSB) or environmental management (e.g., ISO 14001), familiarity with other frameworks, such as the GHG Protocol, carbon accounting tools, TNFD/TCFD Familiarity or willingness to develop a keen understanding of SE Asian regulatory trends on disclosure, Human Rights Due Diligence, as well as understanding the implications of European regulations on SE Asian supply chains (e.g.
CSRD, CBAM).
A broad background with comprehensive understanding of programme design, development and implementation as well as applying and identifying systems change levers Strong contacts and networking experience, particularly with Asian philanthropic networks and UHNWI communities.
Experience of and commitment to, working with and through partners and contributing to partnership strategies.
Some background in facilitation, partnership brokering and ensuring high collaboration amongst partners in a field.
Experience with strategy, monitoring, evaluation and learning (SMEL) and working with other technical advisors and research teams (internal & external) to establish effective monitoring systems in relation to programme activities and grant progress.
Fluency in English with excellent communication skills, both oral and written, one or more frequently used SE Asian languages is a plus (Malay, Mandarin, Thai, Indonesian, etc…) Experience in budget management.
Strong problem solving abilities, including analysing complex environmental challenges to develop innovative grant-making strategies.
Strong project / grant management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple initiatives, meet deadlines and deliver on set priorities.
Be an effective collaborator in a complex internal and external environment, including the ability to work with efficiency and tact in a matrixed environment.
Additional Information ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Of course, it is a two-way street, which means that we offer not only a competitive salary and benefits package, but we also believe in a healthy work-life balance.  Salary range of MYR 114,400 to MYR 143,000 (depending on experience).  Hybrid working opportunity.
We will have a great office for you to work in and believe you can also be effective at home.
We aim for a 40/60 office/home office balance.
You can work up to 10 days per year from anywhere abroad.
