Position
The Purchasing Engineer - Mechanics will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring mechanical components and materials required for our production processes. This role involves evaluating suppliers, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring that all purchased materials meet the required quality standards and specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, procurement, and supply chain management.
Responsibilities
Source and procure mechanical components, materials, and equipment required for production processes.
Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance; negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to ensure optimal agreements.
Collaborate with material management, engineering and production teams to understand technical requirements and ensure that purchased materials meet specifications.
Monitor and manage supplier performance, including on-time delivery, quality, and cost-effectiveness; address any issues or discrepancies with suppliers promptly.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers; conduct regular supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with company standards.
Analyze and evaluate procurement data and market trends to make informed purchasing decisions and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Prepare and process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all required information.
Maintain all purchasing and supplier data in SAP.
Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate supply of materials while minimizing excess stock and obsolescence.
Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely receipt and proper storage of purchased materials.
Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, supplier performance, and inventory levels.
Stay updated on industry trends, new products, and emerging technologies in mechanical components and materials.
Work according to INFICON's processes and regulations and keep always an eye on the business ethics policy.
Actively participate in INFICON Malaysia's continuous improvement process.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management within the mechanical engineering or manufacturing industry.
Additional experience in procurement of electronics is a plus.
Strong knowledge of mechanical components, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience in SAP is a strong plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
