This position requires a proactive approach to managing the procurement process and maintaining effective supplier relationships to ensure smooth operations.
The incumbent will be responsible for managing the procurement of both direct and indirect materials.
The role entails overseeing the entire purchasing process, including handling RFQs, processing purchase orders (POs), confirming orders, and expediting deliveries.
The key focus is ensuring that materials are of high quality, cost-effective, and delivered on time.
Experience in managing commodities such as steel, plastic, mould, and tooling will be considered an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities:Process purchase orders based on approved purchase requisitions (PRs) and filtered MRP reports, ensuring accurate data entry into the ERP system and adherence to company policies.
Expedite orders by utilizing reports to identify items requiring urgent attention and proactively follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
Monitor the status of purchased items and assist in resolving any shipment-related issues during the SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning) meeting.
Communicate effectively with suppliers to obtain necessary information such as lead times, product availability, and delivery schedules.
Prepare and deliver accurate and timely monthly reports detailing purchase activities and materials.
Maintain and update supplier profiles and data in the ERP system, ensuring the information is accurate, relevant, and available in a timely manner.
Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, production, quality, and planning departments, as well as suppliers, to address and resolve supply chain issues promptly.
Identify and develop appropriate sources of supply, fostering strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers to stay informed of trends, new technologies, products, and services.
Support cost reduction initiatives within the assigned supplier base, contributing to overall operational efficiency.
Undertake any other tasks or responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Candidate must possess at least a bachelor's degree, Post Graduate Diploma, or Professional Degree in any related field.
Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience in purchasing or procurement role, preferably within the manufacturing industry.
Required language(s): English, Mandarin, and Bahasa Malaysia.
Ability to apply excellent functional computer knowledge in utilizing Microsoft Office applications.
Strong negotiation and contract management skills, with the ability to secure favorable terms and conditions.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
