Our Endoscopy Research and Development team is seeking an R&D Manager who is passionate about improving patient outcomes across our increasing and wide range of complex systems-based products. Job Responsibilities:
Assists in and/or manages functional deliverables and ensures technical excellence for product or technical development from product definition through verification.
Utilizes Systems Engineering principles to develop products requiring optical, electrical, software, and mechanical features.
Ensures products comply with electrical safety standards and medical device regulations.
Leads technical advancement projects.
Provides guidance and approval regarding technical strategies and approaches.
Ensures continued intellectual property development from self and staff.
Provides guidance and training to staff, assists subordinates in attaining career goals, motivates individuals to achieve results, and recruits and maintains a high-quality staff.
Assists in and/or completes the development of budgets and monitors spending.
Assists in identifying and developing department tools.
Assists in and/or determines appropriate staff levels, schedules, and resources. Works with project managers to understand priorities and plans resource and time allocation accordingly.
Collaboratively determines project staff assignments and schedules work to meet completion dates and R&D deliverables.
Maintains and enhances cross-functional team relationships.
Works cross-functionally in identifying and resolving technical issues.
Monitors and evaluates project and department progress and results.
Prepares and communicates development status to a wide range of audiences.
Job Requirements:
Candidate requires at least a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (computer, software, systems).
At least 5+ years in product development.
Proficient with system engineering principles.
In-depth knowledge of design verification for a regulated industry.
Understanding of lab equipment including power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum/signal/logic analyzers.
Effective communication/presentation skills to all levels of the organization (both written and verbal).
Experience working within Design Controls or equivalent for the Medical Device Industry.
Electrical safety (IEC 60601-1), HF (IEC 60601-2-2), and EMI/EMC (60601-1-2) standards experience.
Willing to travel. 10-20% travel, including international.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's or Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (computer, software, systems).
Clinical and technical knowledge of imaging-based medical devices.
Proficient with electrical engineering, optics, and bioinstrumentation principles.
