Job Description The Asia R&D Packaging Specialist combines project management skills with a broad and deep understanding of his/her field of expertise.
The Asia R&D Packaging Specialist integrates technological knowledge and business relevance, balancing new technological opportunities with operational consequences to ensure creation of viable new opportunities for JDE.
The Asia R&D Packaging Specialist has a hands-on approach, executing internal and external laboratory simulation trial/test, small and big scale plant trial, transit/transportation trial or to support others as well as providing thought leadership and applying their academic knowledge to JDE.
The Asia R&D Packaging Specialist sit within all categories and functions within R&D, e.g., Product/Process and Packaging, Application Centers, Science and Technology, Quality and Food Safety, SARA, Consumer Inspired Innovation.
Responsibilities/ Key Activities: Accountable for leading and/or support NPD / Productivity / Process Development / Packaging project as approved by the business – supports planning and set-up for several R&D projects, also given opportunity as project leader.
Accountable to execute and/or support R&D projects within the aim to deliver new knowledge, skill and production capabilities that are essential for NPD or productivity projects aligned with line manager.
Responsibility including contribution to current NPD / Productivity project as R&D team member.
Tasks include (but not limited to): defining and leading internal and external laboratory simulation, small and big scale plant trial, collecting experimental data, writing technical reports and SOPs, developing prototypes, issuing technical drawings, material selection, defining packaging functional specification and finished goods specifications including pallet configuration and container loading configurations.
Responsible for the delivery of JDE Sustainability Commitment within the region.
Reporting and presentation of finding within JDE and project teams.
Contribute for improvement of JDE technical systems and process including CQV.
Responsible for the realization of the business strategy by technical innovation and capability development.
Responsible to support procurement on supplier negotiation, approval, development, and validation.
Contribute to global network: Internal reports, K-brief, Books of knowledge, IDF, competitor surveillances.
Other tasks / duties as assigned by team lead / manager.
Qualifications Education : Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering (Packaging, Chemical or Mechanical) or Science (Material Science, Polymer Chemistry, or related fields).
Experience: At least minimum 2 years of experience in relevant field.
Good verbal, writing and communication skills in English.
Experience in FMCG or related packaging function will be an advantage.
