About the RoleThe role involves working closely with the founders and leadership team of Oyen to facilitate the submission and approval of our regulatory requirements to be in Bank Negara Malaysia's Fintech Sandbox program. You will also be responsible for the planning, strategizing, and implementation of our risk management frameworks and be the point person for all matters relating to internal company compliance. This is a 6 months consulting role (hourly compensation) that will be converted to a full-time position upon successful completion of our BNM application.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrepare and submit information required by Bank Negara Malaysia's relevant departments to qualify the company for Sandbox.
Be the liaison between the regulators and the management team on matters relating to compliance and risk management requirements.
Implement risk management processes aligning with the Company's objectives, local regulatory standards (relative to our Sandbox requirement), and group requirements.
Develop and execute plans for effective risk control metrics and processes supporting business needs.
Identify, assess, monitor, measure, and report on all material/emerging risks, adhering to the overall risk management approach of the Company.
Foster a sound, open, and proactive risk culture within the organization.
Collaborate with functional units to ensure key risks are reported and properly managed.
Prepare a report to Management and the Board Risk Management Committee.
Coordinate corporate risk profile discussions at the management level.
Oversee the production of Department Risk Registers and ensure proper management of identified risks.
Provide risk opinions on various subjects, including project management, outsourcing, and fraud risk management.
Monitor and report on market risk, liquidity risk, asset liability management, and credit risk management activities.
Provide risk opinions on Strategic Asset Allocation and new investment strategy.
Collaborate on ICAAP implementation and assess capital requirements under stress scenarios.
Ensure business continuity management activities are carried out following the plan.
Skills and RequirementsPreferably a degree in Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Finance, or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of experience in risk management, compliance, and/or audit in an insurance company.
Strong knowledge and experience in General Insurance Risk Management.
Startup experience is a plus.
Strong understanding of the financial services industry.
Strong analytical skills, ability to work independently, and excellent communication/presentation skills.
Motivated team player with a drive for continuous improvement.
Experience in Excel/Google sheet formulas is highly desirable.
Have a strong interest in insurance and a basic understanding of the principles of insurance.
Great attention to detail.
Enjoys analysing and solving problems.
Superb organizational and time-management skills.
Communications: Highly communicative, energetic, loves building relationships and rapport with others, and in general a people-person.
Independent: Proactive and able to operate independently with minimal supervision.
