Reporting To: Regional Chief Executive Officer / Chief Executive Officer
Position Summary:
Responsible to oversee the management of the environment and safety program, in order to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors and staffs.
To be the Secretary of the Environment, Safety & Health Core Committee and perform all functions as specified.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Lead in organising and implementing occupational safety and health programs in the hospital.
2. Advice the Regional Chief Executive Officer (RCEO)/ Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on the measures to be taken in the interests of the environment, safety and health of the staffs in the hospital.
3. Oversee in ensuring the environment safety and health policies are effectively implemented within the hospital.
4. Lead and direct the environment and safety team in inspection of work place, to determine whether any machinery, plant equipment, substance, appliance or process are functional and safe.
5. Investigate any reported accident, near-misses accident, dangerous occurrences, occupational poisoning or occupational disease.
6. Collect, analyse, and maintain statistics on any accident, dangerous occurrence and occupational poisoning which have occurred in the hospital.
7. Coordinate and ensure annual safety and disaster mitigation activities are being carried out by each related team.
8. Assist and communicate with any authority officer in carrying out his duty under the OSHA or any regulations made under the Act.
9. Submit any report required under the Act to relevant authorities.
10. Participate in required meetings.
11. Identify, plan and coordinate general safety education and training programs required under ESH Committee.
12. Update and submit a monthly report on ESH current activities to RCEO/CEO and ESH Manager in Management Office.
13. Perform any other related duties as assigned and directed.
Education and Requirements: Possess at least a certificate from NIOSH or other institutions recognize by Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH).Certified by NIOSH as Safety Officer.Have at least 2 years of experience with environmental safety matters in any organization, preferably in healthcare industry.Well verse with OSHA ACT.Have knowledge in Emergency Response Procedure (ERP).Able to conduct training in matters related to OSHA Act and ERP.Preferably have experience in handling disaster drills.
Special Demands: Possess good communication and interpersonal relationship skills.Has good analytical skill to interpret and analyze data and reports.Good command of both written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.Keep up to date with policies/ by-laws relating to Health and Safety and occupational hygiene.
