We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join this team in the role of Sanctions Manager. Role Purpose This position is providing support to the Country teams (, FC, LoBs, Functions) with responsibilities in relation to management of sanctions activities. The role holder will support the first line of defence (as delegated Risk Steward / Control owner) and second line of defence (as SME) oversight of sanctions risk within the Country while ensuring alignment with Global Standards; and work closely with regional teams, as necessary. The role holder will provide advice and recommendations for specific business risks, working with the Country teams to ensure all advice and guidance is supported by specific documentation. The role holder will be required to involve in the completion the Enterprise-Wide Risk Assessment (EWRA) - Sanctions, offering support and guidance where required. Impact on the Business: The role holder contributes to Country compliance with Policy and Local Sanctions regulations applied through: Provision of Country Sanctions subject matter expertise including, but not limited to, Country Sanctions Training. Ensure Country level oversight of all Advisory issues and provide support to Business Line, Product and Function. Where required, involve in completion of EWRA, acting as a point of contact for queries and support on sanctions related. Fulfilling required Country level Policy management activities: Identify and respond to external country trends and regulatory requirements which have a Country impact and ensure measures are taken to keep fully up to date with changes to advice being provided. Support business and function in implementing the Policy at Country Level and ensure compliance the Policy as well as local law and regulation. This includes but not limited to ensure FC Sanctions DIM, and any supplementary document are updated, accurate and embedded within Malaysia. Respond and impact assess the changes on policy and regulatory requirement to identify any local Sanctions regulatory conflict (ensure primary compliance with local regulatory obligation), achieving any required approvals for Policy non-compliance. Work closely with Business Line and Functions to provide advice / recommendations for specific business, product risks provided by Global Business Line. Where identified escalate potential Sanctions breaches in the appropriate manner to the required escalation point, conduct necessary investigation, resolve all country level actions, and reporting to its conclusion. Escalate customer and transaction risk approvals which require Country/ Regional Sanctions approval and included advice and guidance on the completion of these and the correct escalation path. Work closely with Compliance Advisor, Business Line and Functions to ensure that Warranties and Representations are completed where required, providing advisory support to the teams. Identify and maintain oversight of all potential breaches of Sanctions within Country ensuring appropriate escalation to the Regional Head Sanctions, and relevant stakeholder in accordance to Incident Management Procedure, as required. Complete root cause analysis to ensure that trends are identified with escalations to ensure advice given is fully up-to-date and assist risk mitigation. Ensure all processes are compliant to Sanctions related records retention policy for all processes within the team. Ensure that all work is completed within agreed SLAs, with appropriate escalation and mitigating actions for items not meeting SLAs. Ensure sanctions risk/ breach incident/ issue/ internal event (operational risk event) identified are properly managed which including timely reporting and escalation, root cause identification, remediation action and etc. Ensure true matches identified are handled in appropriate manner which including but not limited to escalation to appropriate stakeholders, block/ freeze of account, advice of any regulatory required action, CSEM and etc. Requirements Requirements Risk professional with experience in one or more risk compliance roles, to include Sanctions experience. Knowledge of Sanctions regulations and guidance. Is able to create, read and fully understand the content SWIFT messages. Experience in the financial services industry, specifically within a payments environment. Lateral thinker with an ability to interpret and solve complex issues. Well-developed leadership skills. Excellent communicator with strong inter-personal and influencing skills. Ability to adapt to change and provide input where necessary.
