Responsible for Aquarium operation functions and education programs including the Animal Ambassadors. This position will oversee all educators, performers, and operation MCs, ensuring that the highest safety, customer satisfaction and cleanliness standards are adhered to. Position will be accountable for KPI scores, as well as meeting education booking numbers relative to forecast. This position will ensure that all education programs meet the needs of formal and/or informal teaching institutions. This position is responsible for all budgets relating to the operation functions and education programs as noted below.- Responsible for training, development, performance management, team building, and other people management activities. Develops departmental staff plan based on general budget guidelines. Promotes and demonstrates the Merlin and LEGO® values and culture through words and actions.- Creates/controls operating expenses and labor budget for Operations/Education Department.- Monitors labor hours and ensures that payroll reports are accurate.- Develop and implement written standard operating procedures and conduct staff training for all areas of responsibility.- Accountable for the leadership of the MCs: including training and development, appropriate coaching and counselling practices, recruiting and MC reviews.- Ensures that all MCs overseen maintain exceptional guest service, safety and cleanliness standards as well as work closely with SEA LIFE® management team to ensure that all MCs are held to these standards.- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to present information to diverse groups of individuals ranging from small to large school groups to groups of business professionals of all sizes.- Create, coordinate, implement and evaluate education programs working closely with the Curator and LEGOLAND® education team to ensure creativity and consistent quality in programming.- Maintain current knowledge of California state teaching standards and current instructional learning methods to develop and enhance staff competencies in order to meet or exceed teacher and education group expectations.- Conduct literature research, create and update text, and suggest layout for educational information, including exhibit graphics, newsletters, teacher guides and other informational materials as requested.- Works to secure education grants based on research and programs completed at the SEA LIFE® aquarium and in conjunction with partnered learning institutions.- Work closely with the Animal Husbandry team to develop new program content based on guest needs and visitor feedback.- Assist with special events and other activities as required; substitute for and assist with program presentation as necessary.- Work closely with the SEA LIFE® Manager / PR to ensure the SEA LIFE® brand is well presented at all times. Maintains building to comply with and support all PR initiatives.**Requirements**:- Degree in **Marine Biology/ Fisheries** or any related fields.- Four (4) years professional experience working at an aquarium or theme park.- Two (2) years experience working in supervisory role, preferably supervising a minimum of 20-30 employees.- Two (2) years experience creating and implementing education programs.- Experience presenting to large and small groups of all crowd types (children - business professionals).- Two (2) years experience managing operating budgets to include labor and equipment.- Bi-lingual ability in oral and writing will be an added advantage.**Benefits**:- Dental insurance- Free parking- Health insurance- Maternity leave- Meal provided- Professional developmentSchedule:- Day shift**Education**:- Bachelor's (preferred)**Experience**:- Supervising: 2 years (preferred)**Language**:- English (preferred)
