Section Manager - Process Engineering

Our client is a renowned Engine MRO in Malaysia with a production line specializing in the maintenance and overhaul of engine parts.They are currently looking for aSection Manager - Process Engineering , who will be directly responsible to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for the day-to-day management of a team of engineers.This position will be based in Malaysia, and relocation will be required.Job Responsibilities
Deputise Engineering Manager across any functions as required including the Shop Floor Management (SFM) meetings, Management Meetings, Customer Review, OEM discussion, Request for Quotation (RFQ) review, etc.
Lead a team of engineers under his/her section. This typically includes training to ensure that personnel are updated with the latest methods, procedures, and requirements; work allocation and problem resolution, as well as participating in decisions for recruitment and performance evaluation.
Develop and implement new repair processes as per plan and carry out continuous process improvement to improve quality, yield, cycle time, and cost reduction.
Verify and be accountable for all engineering documentation released to the shop for accurate technical content, standardization of engineering documents, and ensure that engineering documents are in accordance with approved technical data.
Perform First Article Inspections (FAI), as required.
Provide support to Production in improving the effectiveness of production lines with regards to processes.
Liaise with the technical team to develop and modify tools as necessary to improve specific processes.
Conduct research on new technologies that will enable the Company to be market leaders in the industry.
Provide technical guidance to Engineers under his/her care; and/or intra sections.
Evaluate applicable changes from revised Original Engine Manufacturer (OEM) Manual and incorporate it into internal organizational work instruction e.g. Process Instructions, Special Instructions, etc., as necessary.
Develop a professional working relationship with the shareholders and be able to share the knowledge and lessons learned.
Engage in constant and active discussions with the shareholders to understand process developments and increase technical knowledge.
Develop a succession plan and define goals for the team.
Develop and periodically update training materials related to engineering processes used in the production floor.
Knowledge transfer and/or train the production or technical employees on the technical processes used in the production floor based on the approved training syllabus or materials.
Comply with and support Environmental Health & Safety policies, rules, and regulations at all times.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the superior or any other designated person.Job RequirementsMinimum Degree in Aerospace, Material Science, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering or its equivalent.
Minimum of 8 years of working experience in Maintenance Repair and Overhaul within an aviation environment is an added advantage.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in a leadership role.
Dynamic and tactful personality, high degree of professionalism and integrity, with excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong leadership qualities, result-oriented, good follow-through, and possess good organizational skills.
Ability to interpret technical documents, Engine Manuals, Standard Practice Manual, perform analysis, and provide recommendations.
Good knowledge and experience in one or more of the following special processes: TIG Welding, Plasma Spray, Heat Treatment, Machining, Shot Peening, Welding Technology, Diffusion bonding/coating, Non-Destructive Test: RT (Digital Radiography) or Penetrant Testing (PT) or Ultrasonic Testing (UT).
Self-driven, highly motivated, strong analytical thinking skills.
Able to work independently and prioritize workload to meet project timelines in a fast-paced environment.
Good knowledge of continuous improvement, quality management, and lean principles.
Possess commercial awareness and basic financial management skills.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written in English and Bahasa Melayu.
