Job DescriptionAs a Cloud FinOps Lead, you are responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive framework for cloud cost management.
You must possess strong technical expertise and be deeply familiar with public clouds (AWS, Azure) to effectively drive cost optimization initiatives.
This role requires leading efforts to adopt the latest AWS strategies for cost savings.
The cost-saving initiatives must be cloud-agnostic, capable of identifying optimization opportunities, distinguishing critical from non-critical workloads and providing recommendations to expedite savings.Key Responsibilities Analyze Cloud Spending: Continuously monitor and analyze AWS cloud costs to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for cost savings.
Cost Optimization Strategies: Develop and implement strategies to optimize AWS cloud costs, including rightsizing resources, leveraging reserved instances, savings plans, and eliminating unused resources.
Resource Management: Review and manage AWS resources to ensure efficient utilization while aligning with organizational needs and cost objectives.
Pricing Model Analysis: Evaluate and recommend suitable AWS pricing models (e.g., on-demand, spot instances, reserved instances) based on workload requirements and cost-efficiency considerations.
Reporting: Generate detailed cost reports and forecasts, offering actionable insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
Cost Governance: Define, establish, and enforce policies and best practices for cloud cost management across the organization.
Performance KPIs: Define cloud cost performance KPIs and ensure regular tracking and reporting against agreed benchmarks.
Tool Implementation: Configure and utilize AWS tools and third-party solutions such as AWS Cost Explorer, Trusted Advisor, and cloud management platforms for effective cost management.
Collaboration: Build strong working relationships with application owners, Finance, and other teams to understand cloud usage patterns and develop cost-effective solutions.
Proactively engage with IS and business communities as a visible ambassador of IT initiatives.
Continuous Improvement: Stay current with the latest AWS features, cost management tools, and industry best practices to enhance cost optimization strategies continuously.
Qualifications 10+ years of experience with one/more public/private cloud platforms (e.g.
AWS, Azure, etc.).
Experience with capacity forecasting, cloud cost optimization techniques, financial reporting, and workflow management in a large service operations environment.
Familiarity with monitoring and reporting tools/APIs.
Understanding of cloud providers, platforms and configurations and familiarity with workload usage/consumption patterns on cloud.
Good understanding of billing on cloud platforms (incl.
impact of usage patterns on TCO) Ability to develop effective reporting schemes/metrics to maintain strong control on usage and billing of cloud services.
Ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders (across IS, finance, business functions) and proactively identify opportunities for service improvement.
Demonstrated skills in working across multi-functional teams to bring increased business value through seeing the bigger picture, collaboration and alignment of diverse needs AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification preferred
