As a member of the Asia Finance team, theSenior Costing Engineeris responsible for supporting new project quotations and conducting should-be-cost analysis to obtain cost-saving opportunities. This role involves collaborating with various departments to gather information, analyze cost structures, and identify opportunities for cost optimization while adapting to a fast-paced work environment. Our office is based at UOA Business Park, Shah Alam, and reports to the Manager in China.
Job Responsibilities
Proficient in understanding and adhering to standard costing processes to establish product target price and tooling cost.
Evaluate Bill of Materials (BOM) input and review BOM assumptions.
Estimate product unit cost and tooling cost to establish target prices and tooling costs for new project quotes on specified commodities.
Provide support to conduct cost analysis during the sourcing phase (e.g., stamping, injection molding, die casting).
Work closely and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure target price achievement.
Review supplier quotes and cost breakdowns to support gap closure analysis.
Collaborate with teammates to evaluate and review different design-engineering and VAVE initiatives.
Provide support for critical project Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and conduct cost walk/variance analysis.
Able to work under pressure and meet target deadlines.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Purchasing, Engineering, or other related courses.
At least 5 years of working experience in Automotive, Mechanism Design, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
Experience in stamping, injection molding manufacturing, and tooling design with a strong motivation to transfer to costing is an advantage.
Proficient communication skills with regional stakeholders. Fluent in both English and Mandarin to deal with the China region.
