The candidate is responsible for the day-to-day operational aspects of database administration to meet the business needs and service level for MSSQL and Sybase.
Make an Impact by:
Providing 1st and 2nd level operational database support.
Monitoring the tickets (SR, Incident, Change request), acknowledging timely and assisting within agreed service level, maintaining the database configuration & documentation; providing regular reporting to relevant parties.
Assisting and responding promptly to incidents, investigating & providing temporary and/or permanent resolution of incidents escalated.
Managing database changes through change request process & providing status reports to the relevant parties.
Monitoring & measuring the performance & availability of databases proactively; implementing corrective actions identified to improve.
Maintaining a knowledge base to ensure database intellectual property is retained.
Performing regular security patching for the databases including Cluster databases.
Handling service continuity measures, i.e., backup/restore procedures & disaster recovery plan, to ensure continuous operation of the business.
Managing database access.
Creating, changing, and deleting user accounts as per request.
Maintaining always-on and ensuring disaster recovery is in sync at all times.
Monitoring and maintaining database backups.
Providing audit support.
Being accommodative for shift/roster call out.
