Senior Engineer, Electrical (CAPEX) & Fire ProtectionAs a Senior Engineer specializing in Operations CAPEX (Electrical) and Fire protection, your primary objective is to drive strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, optimizing fire protection, and managing capital expenditures in Electrical to improve overall operational performance within the organization.
Job Responsibilities:
Electrical (CAPEX)Manage and coordinate all KASB & CJSB Ops CAPEX to ensure all plan Ops CAPEX (Electrical) are executed timely and within budget as agreed during the yearly budgeting process.
Create Bill of Quantity, perform Tender evaluation, and monitor all Ops CAPEX contractor site works until completion for any Ops CAPEX project related.
Collaborate with internal or external stakeholders regarding design, development, testing, and improving processes with engineering processes related to process improvements.
Assist and execute relevant support, identify, and implement all related items/elements to ISO/OHSAS/EMS Procedures, Work Instructions, JSA, and other applicable legal requirements and authority (ST, TNB, DOSH, DOE, etc).
Ensure all Ops CAPEX expenses under the department stay within the allocated budget.
Support and continuously review the KASB & CJSB Baseline database.
Part of the key personnel in managing the baseline database.
Part of the FMEA review committee.
Provide technical assistance to field staff if needed with stakeholders.
In charge/custodian E&I drawing for KASB & CJSB and other facilities.
Able to interpret drawings, PFD, P&ID, SLD and other relevant drafts and produce new CAD drawings according to specifications if needed with stakeholders.
Fire ProtectionLead the design and development of fire protection systems, including sprinklers, fire alarms, smoke control, emergency exits, fire pumps, and gas suppression systems.
Oversee fire protection projects from concept through completion, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery while meeting all project specifications and regulatory requirements.
Conduct fire risk assessments KASB and CJSB, identifying potential fire hazards and proposing effective fire protection measures.
Ensure fire protection systems comply with local and international fire safety regulations and standards such as NFPA, BS, EN, and local codes.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, fire hazmat, architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure proper integration of fire protection systems into facilities designs.
Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements.
Provide expert-level troubleshooting for complex fire protection system issues, offering solutions to resolve problems effectively.
Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, and compliance reports related to fire protection systems.
Propose improvements to fire safety processes, technologies, and systems to enhance efficiency and safety.
Other tasks assigned based on organization needs by the General Manager, Operations.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering (preferable) or Electrical Engineering.
RELEVANT WORKING EXPERIENCE
Senior electrical engineer from Mining, Chemical, Cement based industry or
Senior fire protection Engineer from a project-based company who has led and executed large scale fire protection system upgrades.
Minimum 8 years in Plant engineering and plant Maintenance in electrical-based projects or
A minimum of 8 years of experience in fire protection engineering, with experience managing large-scale fire safety projects.
Any electrical engineer who has actively led and managed fire protection systems is encouraged to apply.
Strong knowledge of Fire protection international standards and electrical standards (NFPA, FM Global, Factory Malaysia Act, IEC, Electrical codes, etc.).
COMPETENCIES & SKILLS
Proven experience in Operations CAPEX project management and Fire protection system within industrial or manufacturing settings.
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools to identify inefficiencies and propose effective solutions.
Project management expertise with the ability to plan, execute, and monitor projects while adhering to timelines and budgets.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and stakeholder management abilities.
