M Moser Associates Malaysia, an award-winning workplace interior design firm, is hiring a Senior Level Interior Designer to join our Kuala Lumpur team. You will work closely with our Design Leader to deliver transformative workplace projects in Malaysia.
The designer will provide both technical and creative support to win, create, and deliver projects as part of an agile, multidisciplinary, and global team.
Job Overview
As an Interior Designer, you will collaborate closely with the Project & Contracts Teams on all phases of the design and delivery of workplace transformation projects. Your role will involve actively contributing to concept design and storytelling with our cross-disciplinary team of architects, engineers, designers, strategists, and other gifted professionals to define new experiences and opportunities for M Moser's clients.
As an integral member of our Design Team, you will take a lead role in the pre-schematic design process, partnering closely with the Design Leader to create enchanting, intuitive, and effective, one-of-a-kind design solutions that win clients' business. You will actively participate in client interviews and become a trusted confidant for clients from project initiation to completion.
As the project moves into design development, you will leverage your close relationship with the client and your exceptional detailing skills to guide the design team in delivering the physical, social, and digital environments that enable business transformations for global organizations.
Specific Responsibilities
General Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with the Design Team Leader to develop and demonstrate the following skills:
Test fit/planning proposal:
Demonstrate understanding of the Client's brief and inherent needs, creativity within spatial restrictions, and speed of comprehension to produce a presentable layout.
Detail drawings in ACAD:
Demonstrate understanding of construction methods and creatively construct new designs, taking initiative to discuss with colleagues and builders/vendors about material characteristics.
SketchUp 3D modeling:
Demonstrate understanding of how M. Moser utilizes SketchUp as a design development tool, producing a presentable 3D proposal.
Participate in discussions about deadlines and methods of execution within a limited timeline, bringing suggestions for improvements.
Communication:
Demonstrate good Design Team communication and contribute suggestions for improvements.
Manage expectations of deliverables and develop open professional relationships with team members.
Liaise with project team members and external parties such as contractors, suppliers, and consultants.
Regularly review and check team deliverables for accuracy, efficiency, and thoroughness.
Demonstrate strong time management skills and seek to streamline processes to increase quality and efficiency.
Concept, Schematic and Detail Design
Collaborate closely with Senior Design Colleagues to develop and demonstrate the following skills:
Develop inspirational storyboards based on the project brief, from concept to visual proposal.
Further develop the storyboard into material specifications, furnishings, lighting, etc.
Collaborate with suppliers/vendors and internal teams to understand costs based on the storyboard for client presentations.
Develop presentation skills for public communication, demonstrating good listening and comprehension.
Enhance soft skills in reading the room and reacting appropriately to situations.
Requirements
8 years of working experience in the Interior Design field, especially in corporate design and hospitality & tourism.
Minimum degree in Interior Design, Architectural Design, or a similar field.
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, AutoCAD, SketchUp 3D Modeling, and Photoshop.
Excellent written and spoken English skills.
Demonstrated good Design Team communication and ability to suggest improvements.
Able to work entrepreneurially with minimal supervision; action-oriented and results-driven.
Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to change priorities quickly.
Detail-oriented.
Able to communicate and work effectively with senior leadership and global team members.
