Job DescriptionDrives end to end development of platform hardware and translates platform level requirements to circuit and component level specifications. Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates electronic parts, components, PCB, or integrated circuitry for hardware platforms, electrical engineering applications, and equipment. Conducts logical design of printed circuit boards through component definition and schematic capture, defines component placement and circuit trace routing rules, and oversees board layout from feasibility studies to board tapeout while meeting multidisciplinary platform level requirements. Considers BOM cost and availability data versus design tradeoffs at the board and system levels. Applies design expertise to define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output, and working parameters for hardware and software compatibility. Incorporates feedback from other functions (including verification, validation, manufacturing, and customer) to improve development methods. Performs design research and verification, development, testing, and utilization of firmware, hardware, components, mechanisms, materials, thermal solutions, circuitry processes, packaging, and chassis for platform hardware. Collaborates with architects, other platform hardware design engineers, hardware verification engineers, technical project managers, and technicians to plan and lead platform hardware power-on and debug activities. Resolves system development and bring-up issues to deliver high-quality boards and platforms for customers.
QualificationsThe ideal candidate should exhibit the following behavioral traits:
Advanced English communications and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrate the ability as a good team player, working independently, multitask efficiently, work well with a multi-site team, self-motivated with consistent drive to improve hardware design and design processes.
Qualifications:
PhD/Master/Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronics/Computer Engineering or related field.
Min 9 years of relevant experience in board design and board design processes.
Intermediate to advanced English level.
Possess a good understanding of multiple disciplines (HW, FPGA, SW, FW, ME).
Strong knowledge and experiences in fundamental digital, analog and mixed signal circuit design and troubleshooting.
Preferred qualifications, are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates:
Min 9 years of experience working with industrial CAD toolset for Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) design such as Cadence.
Min 9 years of experience in translating customer and/or product requirements into platform definition and into low level board implementation details (partitioning, place and route constraints, schematics, power distribution, thermo-mechanicals, and others).
Knowledge of high-speed microprocessor-based Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) system design with FPGA and/or CPLD and/or ASIC and Intel microprocessor and chipset system architecture.
Familiarity with lab equipment including, but not limited to, DMM, High Speed Signal Analysis tools, logic analyzer interfaces, oscilloscopes, and soldering equipment.
Technical experience with digital components, including understanding application of different logic families.
Experience with digital board design, signal integrity, EMI design issues, Cadence or Mentor Graphics schematic capture tools, Cadence Allegro and Constraint Manager tools, and/or experience in determining root cause of challenging technical issues is preferred.
Relevant design experience with SI simulations using Ansys HFSS, SPICE, Cadence PetroQuest would be an added advantage.
Knowledge of Windows and UNIX platforms, Python would be an added advantage.
Strong digital design knowledge of buses and interfaces such as PCIe, USB, DDR and FSB.
