Purpose
PerkinElmer is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Senior R&D Engineer to join our dynamic research and development team.
As a Senior R&D Engineer, you will lead the development of cutting-edge technologies and solutions that drive innovation in life sciences, diagnostics, and applied markets.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, prototype, and implement new products, systems, and processes while ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
This role requires a hands-on approach, leadership in problem-solving, and a passion for delivering high-impact solutions that meet customer needs.
Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of new products and systems, including concept generation, prototyping, and validation.
Apply scientific and engineering principles to solve complex technical challenges in product development.
Conduct detailed analysis, including mechanical, electrical, or software components, to optimize performance and reliability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., marketing, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory) to ensure successful product development and commercialization.
Evaluate emerging technologies and trends, integrating them into existing or new products to maintain a competitive edge.
Prepare and present technical reports, design documentation, and project updates to stakeholders, including senior leadership.
Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Manage project timelines, ensuring key milestones and deliverables are met within budget and on time.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols throughout the development process.
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and failure analysis as required to optimize product development.
Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within the R&D team.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical field (Master's or Ph.D. preferred).
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in R&D, product development, or related roles in the life sciences or medical device industry.
Proven track record in leading successful product development projects from concept to commercialization.
Strong understanding of engineering principles, product lifecycle management, and regulatory requirements (ISO, FDA, etc.).
Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and analytically in a fast-paced environment.
Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
