Job ResponsibilitiesPerform necessary data recovery and restoration based on user requirements, either in development/testing or production environment.
Respond to and resolve related cases reported from Helpdesk System in accordance with IT policy and procedures.
Ensure databases are at utmost availability with minimum downtime during operational hours.
Regularly monitor, check, and analyze the database (capacity & trending analysis) and make appropriate suggestions and actions with respect to efficiency and performance improvement of the database.
Advise and identify database data files, configuration files, and transaction logs to be backed up either on daily, weekly, or monthly basis for complete recovery if required.
Regularly verify and test database files being routinely backed up by Server Operator.
Provide first level support (first tier) for any database-related problems identified or reported, and escalate to the proper channel for further troubleshooting and rectification if required.
Perform necessary recovery on data lost or corrupt, including the capability to rebuild the entire database if required.
Conduct necessary database health checks, preventive maintenance, and tuning.
Install new or upgrade versions of database software, patches, and other software related to database administration, which have been successfully tested in development/testing environment.
Provide regular database status updates to Manager/Head, IT Operation & Support.
Ensure related database subscription, maintenance, and support agreements are renewed before expiry without failure.
Assist and cooperate with IT security in ensuring a secured database in the production environment.
Manage and secure database administrator user IDs in development and production environments.
Record and document daily routine jobs undertaken, problems, and steps taken for reference.
Record and document all database detail specifications including all running preconfigured configurations and parameters for reference and benchmarking purposes.
Establish and update database operation manuals and procedures, including necessary enforcement and compliance.
Prepare database outage incident reports including necessary steps taken (if any).
Prepare database capacity reports on a yearly basis.
Other duties as assigned.
