Basic Job Functions:This position performs the accounting for complex business transactions and executes critical processes involved in the global accounting close. This position also leads problem solving and process improvement initiatives by working collaboratively with other finance functions. Candidate must have adequate knowledge of accounting procedures, concepts and principles accepted in the United States ("U.S. GAAP") or other regional bases of accounting.Education/Experience:Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting (required)Master's degree in finance, accounting, business, or other related fields (preferred)CPA, CA, or other equivalent professional certifications (preferred)4-7 years combined experience working for a public company and/or a public accounting firm with relevant experience in financial accounting, general ledger, month-end close, consolidation, and intercompany accounting.Working knowledge of internal controls and SOX complianceWorking knowledge of major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, etc.), preferredWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including a high degree of proficiency in ExcelRequired Skills/Competencies:Process oriented with outstanding attention to detail.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)Independent, highly motivated, very organized, results oriented.Can perform under tight deadlines.A team player who collaborates well with internal and external stakeholdersGood analytical and critical thinking skillsEssential Responsibilities:Prepare or review journal entries, including entries related to accruals, prepaids, cash clearing, derivatives, marketable securities, warranty, and recycling obligations.Perform or oversee month-end close activities, including the execution of the foreign currency remeasurement/translation process and the global consolidation process using ERP and/or reporting systems.Prepare or review reconciliations for critical balance sheet accounts.Prepare documentation supporting the financial results for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting periods (e.g., financial statements, close decks, and other internal/external reporting)Prepare statutory financial statements with associated footnotes and schedules.Monitor intercompany transactions/balances and provide recommendations to reduce the volume and ageing of such transactions.Support the audit of statutory and consolidated financial statements and internal controls.Solve moderately complex problems and lead special projects with minimal supervision.Support external reporting matters as requested.Act as an advisor and coach to mentor junior members of the team.Ensure compliance with Quality, Environment, Health and Safety and Responsible Business Alliance policies and procedures that is enforced within the organization.Other duties as assigned.Physical Requirements:Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift.Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.Will lift, push or pull up to 27 pounds on an occasional basis.Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required.Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to, steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards)All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time and thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).Equal Opportunity Employer Statement: First Solar is an Equal Opportunity Employer that values and respects the importance of a diverse and inclusive workforce.
