Day Camp Positions
Late May through Early August
Girl Scouts of Western Ohiois seeking individuals to work with us, running our summer camps for the 2025 season!
Camp Butterworth– Our summer day camp site located in Maineville, Ohio, sits on a sprawling campus of over 150 acres and has been operating and hosting girls, campers, and lovers of the outdoors for over 75 years! GSWO hosts over 2,800 girls over the Summer at all of our camps and it takes an awesome staff to ensure a safe and fun experience for each camper! Our camp offers a variety of positions that support the girls in their daily adventures such as hiking, archery, creek paddling, and enjoying the climbing wall or taking a ride down our waterslide before a dip in the swimming pool! Our summer camp season begins inlate May and runs through early August , and we provide a full training and onboarding program for all staff in preparation to effectively lead and participate in summer programming with our girls!

Skills you'll develop at camp this summer include conflict resolution, interpersonal skills, creativity, and problem solving, management skills, time management and prioritization, plus valuable experience working directly with children.
What you'll do:As staff, you'll spend your summer either living on-site at Camp Butterworth (Maineville, OH) or commuting in each day, providing camp programming for our Resident Camp program. You'll help girls choose their own adventures while participating in hiking, swimming, creek paddling, outdoor living skills, building teamwork, archery, nature activities, crafts, or working on badge activities.
Open Positions at Day Camp (Camp Butterworth)Program Director- (1 Opening) $85/day
Serves as direct supervisor for program specialists and support staff. Responsible for program scheduling across camp, ensuring program quality and that the camp is operating according to all safety and industry standards and following all safety activity checkpoints in accordance with our camp accreditation.Applicants must be able to live on-site ,at least 21 years oldand have a valid driver's license.
Staff Director- (1 Opening) $85/day
Serves as direct supervisor for unit counselor staff and ensures the camp is operating according to all safety and industry standards and following all safety activity checkpoints in accordance with camp accreditation. Responsible for all weekly staff schedules and coverage to ensure consistent programming.Applicants must be able to live on-site ,at least 21 years oldand have a valid driver's license.
Waterfront Manager- (1 Opening) $82/day
Serves as direct supervisor for camp lifeguards and provides oversight and management for all waterfront activities, facilities, and equipment usage. This role plans, delivers and supervises waterfront programs, ensuring safe, fun, and age/ability-appropriate activities for all campers.Applicants must be able to live on-site ,at least 21 years oldand have a valid driver's license.
Older Girl Leadership Director- (1 Opening) $82/day
Serves as direct supervisor for program assistants and program aides, including the 'in-training' positions. Older girls include our Cadette, Senior and Ambassador aged campers, typically ages 11-18. Responsible for planning, organizing, and leading all C/S/A programs and activities.Applicants must be able to live on-site,at least 21 years oldand have a valid driver's license.
Program Specialists- (3 Openings) $73/day (on-site living rate) or $88/day (off-site living rate)
Plan, teach and carry out specialized activities for campers each day, customizing activities based on a weekly theme. Activities are based on camper age and ability across all program areas including arts & crafts, sports challenges, adventure education and outdoor living. This role also facilitates specialty programs such as archery, hatchet throwing and climbing wall; mandatory specialized training provided. Applicants must beat least 18 years old.
Lifeguards- (8 Openings) $72/day (on-site living rate) or $87/day (off-site living rate)
Provides daily camper supervision and activity monitoring for all participants. Ensure a quality camp experience for all campers through effective planning, teaching, coordinating, and facilitating of activities that guide campers through personal growth while having fun. Responsible for providing a safe and fun aquatic program experience to all campers while monitoring and supervising waterfront and pool activities. Applicants must beat least 18 years old. Mandatory lifeguard training is provided.
Unit Counselors- (16 Openings) $71/day (on-site living rate) or $86/day (off-site living rate)
Provides daily camper supervision and activity monitoring for all participants. Ensure a quality camp experience for all campers through effective planning, teaching, coordinating, and facilitating of activities that guide campers through personal growth while having fun. Applicants must beat least 18 years old.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORKOur Day Camp staff positions are full-time throughout camp season. The days of work are primarily Monday through Friday, but evening or occasional weekend hours may be required, as well as a Thursday night overnight. Hours of work will vary and depend on support needs across camp.Typical shift hours are between 7:30am – 5:30pm.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEHigh School Diploma or General Education Diploma
Experience in youth programming.
Must enjoy and be comfortable with working outdoors with youth.
For roles that require onsite living – must be comfortable with and able to live onsite 24/7 during camp season.
