The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the production floor, ensuring that production goals and quality standards are met while maintaining a safe, efficient, and organized work environment.
The role also involves optimizing production processes, managing staff, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to maximize productivity, quality, and cost-efficiency.
Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate the activities of the production team to meet daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintain high levels of production quality.
Oversee the introduction of new products into production lines, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption.
Plan and implement lean manufacturing techniques and continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and throughput.
Monitor and improve process quality and efficiency using tools such as Six Sigma and Lean principles.
Optimize in-process quality through continuous analysis and improvement of production workflows.
Lead and mentor a team of technicians and operators, providing training and skill development to meet operational needs.
Manage skill certification of technicians and ensure all employees are adequately trained and certified for their roles.
Motivate and engage staff to perform to the best of their abilities, creating a culture of teamwork and accountability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including planning, procurement, and quality, to ensure timely material availability, smooth production flow, and on-time delivery to customers.
Actively participate in cross-department meetings such as Shop Floor, NPR, and Safety committee meetings.
Oversee point-of-use production materials and execute cycle counts to maintain accurate material inventory.
Implement strategies for better material flow, vendor-managed inventory (VMI), and just-in-time (JIT) principles to ensure inventory accuracy.
Plan and lead 6S and continuous improvement (CI) activities, ensuring the production area remains organized, efficient, and compliant with safety and environmental standards.
Implement safety and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) activities to improve the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) system.
Support and maintain ISO14001/45001, bizSAFE, and other environmental health and safety (EHS) certifications and practices.
Ensure production activities meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental control.
Actively participate in new product introduction (NPI) projects by planning production resources and optimizing production processes for new product transfers and start-up activities.
Review and resolve production and operational issues, including output, quality, yield, delivery, and cost-related challenges.
Recommend and implement changes to production processes, including new tools, fixtures, or methods to optimize performance.
Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production output, quality, and efficiency to management.
Drive production cost reductions by improving operational efficiency and minimizing production waste.
Basic Qualifications
Minimum Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
At least 8 years of working experience in a manufacturing environment, Electronic or Mechanical.
Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in a supervisory role or 2-3 years in a manager role managing production teams.
Proficiency in SAP, ERP, or MRP systems for production and material management.
Good working knowledge of continuous improvement methods such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 6S.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
Understanding of ISO9001/13485, TUV, UL, and other quality management systems for manufacturing processes.
Familiarity with EHS systems and implementation of ISO14001/45001 standards.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
