Under the direction of QA Manager, the Supplier Quality Engineer will support and manage material qualification, develop qualification plan and work with production and engineering team to investigate material variation, improvement and/or cost reduction project.
AuthoritiesAuthorize to sourcing vendors for manufacturing aids or components for quality controls.
Authorize to issue SCARs to vendor due to quality issue.
ResponsibilitiesSupplier selection– Work with Edmund Optics Sourcing team to finalize the suitable supplier on the aspect of quality, capability, services, regulatory requirement, etc.
Supplier qualification– Implement proper qualification process through vendor audit, material testing and/or supplier compliance assessment to qualify new vendor and also periodically maintain qualification of existing suppliers.
Assessment tracking– Track new components quality performance to ensure meeting the company quality requirements during the assessment phase. Act as a liaison with the supplier for corrective action in the assessment phase and smoothly transfer the trial product to mass production.
Supplier Performance Evaluation (QBR)– Review supplier performance.
Process Improvement– Work with supplier and internal customers to establish a robust manufacturing process through effective supplier management.
Develop proceduresfor new purchased components and materials – Provide engineering support for receiving inspection.
Raise SCARs and non-conformity– Follow up 8D report from supplier for quality complaints, communicate and feedback investigation findings to internal team, and verify implementation and effectiveness of supplier corrective action via on-site visit or document verification.
Work oncost reductionprojects related to optimization of vendor selection and qualification.
Chair meetingswith suppliers and buyers to discuss supplier-related issues.
Support on other quality tasks assigned by the Superior and Manager.
QualificationsDiploma or Degree in an engineering discipline.
Minimum 3 years' experience in QA in a manufacturing environment covering the full scope from QA systems, processes and audit requirements.
Required Skills & AbilitiesStrong knowledge of ISO9001, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), and audit requirements.
Metrology, inspection methods, and equipment.
Understanding of optics manufacturing processes.
Experience working in Quality Assurance.
Experience in supplier quality development.
