Job Description The Tax Assistant will support the Tax Lead in handling indirect tax compliance for Singapore and Malaysia.
This role is responsible for helping prepare and submit tax returns, assisting with customs documentation, and contributing to projects like e-Invoicing and system updates.
The Tax Assistant will also help in preparing audit responses and communicating with authorities as needed.
Support Indirect Tax Compliance Assist in the preparation, review, and submission of indirect tax returns (e.g., GST,ax) and related compliance documentation for Singapore and Malaysia.
Help maintain accurate records for tax exemption reporting requirements.
Coordinate with Internal Departments Collaborate with various teams, including planning, logistics, finance, and R&D, to gather necessary documentation and support indirect tax compliance.
Ensure alignment with customs and indirect tax regulations across departments.
Assist in Managing Indirect Tax Risks Support the Tax Lead in identifying and managing local and cross-border indirect tax risks, consulting with external advisors if needed.
Help resolve technical and practical tax issues by conducting initial research and assisting in risk assessments.
Stay Updated on Tax Developments Monitor new tax legislation and regulatory changes, communicating updates to the Tax Lead and relevant stakeholders.
Assist in interpreting new legislation and adapting practices accordingly.
Contribute to Process Improvements Identify opportunities for enhancing indirect tax-related procedures and practices.
Assist in implementing automation and system improvements, such as ERP configurations, related to tax compliance.
Support for Ad-hoc Projects Assist in executing ad-hoc projects related to indirect tax, such as e-Invoicing and IT system updates.
Liaison with Authorities Help prepare responses to inquiries from the Royal Malaysian Customs Department and other government bodies, ensuring accurate and timely communication.
Support in managing audits and providing necessary documentation for indirect tax-related inquiries.
Qualifications Education: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Taxation, or related field.
Experience: Prior experience in tax or finance is a plus but not required – fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
Skills: Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Knowledge of tax legislation in Singapore and Malaysia is a plus.
Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with ERP systems.
