Then come in and joinMalaysia team as Tax Manager – ASEAN , to lead the tax function in ASEAN region (viz. MY, TH, SGP and VN) by ensuring compliance, mitigating risks, and delivering strategic insights that drive business growth by fostering collaboration, empowering sustainable growth and by upholding the organization's commitment to integrity and excellence.
Your tasks and responsibilities:The role would be a vital link between local tax operations and global tax strategy, ensuring compliance, mitigating risks, and driving value for the organization. Key areas of responsibility shall include:
Tax Compliance and Reporting
Oversee timely and accurate filing of corporate income tax, VAT/GST, withholding taxes, and other statutory returns.
Coordinate accurate tax calculations and reporting for Sitax, financial statements aligning with local GAAP or local accounting standards.
Identify opportunities for tax efficiency while complying with country specific laws.
Address issues like permanent establishments, transfer pricing, and withholding taxes.
Leverage regional tax incentives, exemptions, or treaty benefits to optimize the company's tax position.
Ensure implementation of global transfer pricing.
Oversee preparation and maintenance of country-specific transfer pricing reports and benchmarks.
Monitor intercompany transactions to mitigate transfer pricing risks.
Identify and address potential tax risks, including changes in laws and their implications.
Develop strategies to comply with new tax laws, including BEPS 2.0, Pillar One and Two.
Communicate upcoming changes and their implications to senior management.
Manage tax authority queries, audits, and litigation, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.
Coordinate with tax advisors, legal counsel, and auditors to manage specialized issues.
Establish strong internal controls for tax processes to avoid penalties and reputational damage.
Provide tax advice to regional business units on transactions, contracts, and operational strategies.
Work closely with finance, legal, and operations teams to align tax strategies with business goals.
Liaise with regional and global leadership to align tax policies with organizational priorities.
Team Management and Development
Lead and develop regional tax teams, fostering their technical and professional growth.
Ensure the team is adequately staffed and equipped to handle compliance and strategic tasks.
Align efforts between local and global tax teams for consistency and efficiency.
Implement tools for tax compliance, reporting, and analytics to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Streamline workflows for tax filings, documentation, and internal reporting.
Ensure sensitive tax data is handled securely and complies with regional regulations.
Regional Reporting and Alignment.
Provide regular updates on regional tax performance, risks, and opportunities to APJ tax head.
Ensure regional tax initiatives align with the organization's global tax strategy.
Your qualifications and experience:Master's degree in tax and Accounting e.g. CPA, ACCA or equivalent.
At least 10 years of experience in the field of tax advisory and compliance.
Your attributes and skills:You have a learning attitude.
Good command over English and Malay language.
You can build trust and reputation with internal and external stakeholders, have strategic influence over key decision makers and be able to align action with business objectives.
You can work with and contribute to a multi-location / country team set-up.
You are good in communication and collaboration.
