ScopeThe officer shall be a member of the staff of the Kulliyyah/Centre/Department to which he is assigned by the IIUM and shall perform teaching, examining, and research duties as required of an academic staff member of the IIUM.The officer should undertake moral and religious obligations in relation to his colleagues and students as part of his duties as a member of the academic staff of IIUM.The officer shall attend meetings of IIUM Authorities, Boards, and Committees as appointed by the IIUM Constitution or any Statutes or Acts, or any administrative actions of the Rector, Dean, or Head of the Kulliyyah/Centre/Department.The officer is also expected to participate in the general life of the IIUM community and advise students on character, behaviour, and moral conduct.3. Key ResponsibilitiesPreparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, workshops, and seminars.Developing curriculum and course material for various platforms.Collaborating with other academics and lecturers to improve teaching methods and expand knowledge base.Setting and grading assignments, tests, and exams.Attending and participating in meetings, conferences, and other events in and outside of the institution.Participating in training opportunities and initiatives at the institution.Providing support to students and colleagues.Staying current by reading widely and producing published work in the field.4. Minimum QualificationsCandidates must possess a master's degree and bachelor's degree in Japanese Language Studies/Linguistics/Applied Linguistics or any relevant field.Previous teaching experience in Mandarin is advantageous.Published work would be advantageous.A deep understanding of Japanese Culture would be advantageous.5. Minimum CompetenciesAble to explain/teach Japanese Culture and share it with the students.Ability to inspire students with your passion.Flexibility, resilience, and willingness to work long hours.Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills.Basic skills in Microsoft software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.6. Language QualificationsAll candidates must have obtained:Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or equivalent qualification recognized by the Government (for Malaysian citizens).Achieved English language qualification (at least) CEFR C1 / IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4. Candidates without any of these qualifications will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.JLPT N2 or higher.
