Technical Engineer or External Manufacturing EngineerTechnical Engineer (Electronics and Control System)
The contract manufacturing (RoW) Technical Engineer plays a key role in managing the relationship with contract manufacturers and internal stakeholders on a day-to-day basis.
This position supports ASMPT CM Technical Manager and works closely with CM partners to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery targets.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives, resolving technical issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project objectives.
Supplier Relationship Management : Foster and maintain strong relationships with CM partners, serving as the primary technical support contact during pre-launch, line setup and mass production.
Qualification : Collaborate with contract manufacturers and internal stakeholders to implement a stringent qualification plan with QA for CMs, focusing on test methodology, process transfer, and compliance with ASMPT's standards (including training, copy-exact transfer, FAI, and PPAP).
Operational & Engineering Support : Assist in scoping the necessary CAPEX/OPEX required to enable contract manufacturing, championing the production line setup in relevance to the established guidelines and protocols, troubleshooting technical issues, and managing the engineering change management process.
Continuous Improvement : Aid CM in validating and implementing ideas for cost efficiency and process enhancement through value engineering and alternate parts sourcing and qualification.
Performance Management : Regularly monitor and support CM operational performance through operational KPIs.
Project Management : Coordinate across various internal and external stakeholders to align and review technical support efforts, ensuring the achievement of desired outcomes.
Requirements
A bachelor's degree in Electronics and Control System Engineering or a related field is required.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in test equipment architecture design, system integration and manufacturing (operations, quality, technology, and planning) will be an advantage.
Proficiency in Electrical & Electronics engineering fundamentals including drawing specifications, design principles and testing methods is essential.
Possess technical competence to oversee electronics product/project manufacturing, test equipment setup and qualification.
Possess Project/Program Management skills, and the ability to coordinate and facilitate across internal and external functions to achieve the desired outcomes such as CIP, QIP, cost efficiency and change management.
Advanced proficiency in English & Mandarin is necessary for effective communication with Mandarin-speaking associates.
Willingness to travel within SEA, East Asia to visit CMs and other countries as required.
External Manufacturing Engineer
The external manufacturing (RoW) engineer plays a key role in managing the relationship with external manufacturers on a day-to-day basis.
This position supports ASMPT EM manager and works closely with EM partners to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery targets.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives, resolving technical issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project objectives.
Supplier Relationship Management : Develop and maintain relationships with EM partners.
Keeping suppliers engaged to have quick turnaround, improve capacity and response rate.
Capacity / Production Planning : Coordinate with internal teams and EMs on production schedules.
Align S&OP plans between ASMPT & EM; collaborate to de-escalate supply risks.
Qualification : Together with EM managers, implement stringent qualification plan with QA for EMs to ensure EMs meet ASMPT's standards (training, copy-exact transfer, FAI and PPAP).
Quality Assurance : Execute quality control processes with QA and ensure EMs adhere to strict quality, safety, trade, legal and regulatory compliance requirements.
Includes supplier performance management and tackling of quality issues via 8D reporting.
Continuous Improvement : Support EMs on validating and implementing improvement ideas to achieve cheaper cost, better quality, and faster turnaround time.
External Manufacturer Negotiations : Negotiate with EM to achieve the best optimal cost & deliver business needs (e.g., supply capacity, pricing structure, quality etc.).
Performance Management : Track EM's operational performance regularly via operational KPIs.
Escalate any operational issues to EM manager.
Project Management : Coordinate across various internal and external stakeholders to align and progress per plan to achieve the desired outcomes.
Escalate and mitigate business critical risks.
Support EM Manager to implement project plan and ensure progress is on track.
Requirements
Tertiary qualifications (Bachelor's) in supply chain management, engineering, or a related field.
At least 3-5 years of working experience in commercial/business and manufacturing (operations, quality, technology, planning) function required.
Fresh graduates with excellent academic results will be considered for junior positions.
Experience in External & Contract Manufacturing, Supply Chain Process & Quality Management.
Strong analytical and systematic problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Mechanical and Electrical/Electronic Drawings as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
Possess Project/Program Management skills, and the ability to coordinate and facilitate across internal and external functions to achieve the desired outcomes such as CIP, QIP, cost efficiency and change management.
Strong interpersonal & communication skills; mature, pleasant, and highly energetic personality.
Analytical mindset with ability to make data-driven decisions and problem solve.
Willingness to travel within SEA, East Asia to visit EMs and any other countries as needed.#J-18808-Ljbffr
