Job Description As a member of Western Digital's Global Trade Compliance team, this individual will engage in the oversight, enhancement, and maintenance of the Western Digital's Trade compliance programs including management of policies, procedures, and guidance in support of business operations. This individual will also support export compliance and control measures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Help direct oversight and enhancement of export control programs including parties screening, sanctions, end-user/end-use controls, licensing, commodity control assessment, and anti-diversion risk controls.
Support the development of compliance policies, SOPs, training, and the refinement and implementation of Customs and import compliance related processes and best practices.
Work with local and regional resources to monitor, assess, and communicate the impacts of regional regulatory Trade (import and export) changes and related laws and regulations.
Serve as the resource for internal business partners, providing compliance information, including guidance on procedures, risks mitigation, and Trade data management.
Participate in management of the Global Trade Compliance mailbox for operational activities.
Manage the regional APAC Trade registrations and licenses, as well as compliance programs and initiatives to help achieve strategic Trade priorities.
Contribute to ERP and other business systems enhancement including drafting business requirements, technical specifications, and test scenarios associated with systemic Trade controls.
Work closely with cross-functional teams and global business partners to ensure socialization and alignment of Export Controls, Customs and other Trade requirements.
Support and implement controls and guidelines for Global Trade Operations team.
Resolve legal agreement and NDA compliance escalations.
Oversee the accuracy, completeness, and retention policy of Company's Trade records including conducting regular audits of import and/or export processes and transactional activities to ensure compliance with Trade regulations and internal policies.
Identify and document findings and corrective actions to support effective Trade governance and compliance.
Monitor and assess impact of local and global regulatory changes and related laws and regulations, ability to summarize and provide guidance to mitigate risk (e.g., tariffs, Forced Labor, Conflict Minerals, Preferential Trade Agreements, Supply Chain Due Diligence, etc.).
Contribute to ERP and other business systems enhancement including drafting business requirements, technical specifications, and test scenarios associated with systemic Trade controls.
Coordinate with internal teams, customs brokers, logistics providers, and government agencies to resolve customs-related issues and inquiries.
Qualifications Required: 8+ years of direct import and export compliance experience, preferably with semiconductor or technology industry.
Comprehensive knowledge of Trade regulations, valuation policies and export controls.
Solid understanding of the import and export schemes in APAC region.
Experience with communication with government authorities.
BS/BA degree and Brokers License preferred.
Proven experience with Trade classifications.
Experience conducting trade compliance risk assessments.
Oracle GTM proficiency is highly desired, Salesforce a plus; tech savvy and comfortable dealing with systems and utilizing technology to address compliance needs; can design processes and systematic controls.
Critical thinking, diligence, excellent problem solving and record retention skills; ability to work successfully in a global, cross-functional, multi-cultural team environment Ability to learn new and different technologies and stay abreast of emerging technologies Ability to communicate cross-functionally and contribute to strategic initiatives.
Preferred: BS/BA degree Broker's License Skills: Excellent analytical skills and ability to detect trade compliance risks and vulnerabilities.
Skilled in MS Office suite of products (including MS Teams).
Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate technical details to various stakeholders; able to quickly adjust priorities to meet business needs.
