Job SummaryThe Transfer Pricing role supports the management of policies and controls, manages complex and escalated operational issues across transfer pricing services, performs in-depth troubleshooting, and supports operational delivery, quality management, and control. The role will also support the team lead in driving operational excellence within transfer pricing compliance and risk management activities and managing transitions and changes.
Key Accountabilities
Main lead for medium to high complexity transfer pricing projects or special projects assigned, ad hoc transfer pricing queries.
The role will include but not be limited to the following activities:Preparation of transfer pricing documentation, implementing processes and procedures on a global and country-specific basis.
Working with finance/accounting teams to ensure that transfer pricing policies are fully understood and robustly applied, through review and implementation of joint processes.
Work closely with the bp Tax's Transfer Pricing Network to;Reconcile the group's transfer pricing methods and help to support the ongoing maintenance and implementation of the group's head office recharge mechanisms and other intragroup transactions;
Help maintain BP's transfer pricing policies, and develop procedures and documentation, and customize these for specific transfer pricing regimes;
Review benchmarking searches on available databases;
Where possible, proactively bring to the attention of the Transfer Pricing Group any deficit in policies and their associated risks and opportunities for tax benefits.Ensure the performance and documentation of internal controls in accordance with bp's transfer pricing processes.
Assist the development and implementation of specific transfer pricing projects, including working where necessary with professional advisors.
Lead contact and interface for in-country tax advisor, bp business, and finance.
Identifying, highlighting, and consulting with stakeholders of potential risks and issues from a transfer pricing perspective.
Identifying potential risks, issues, and benefits based on analyzed financial data and detailed transfer pricing analysis.
Recommending transfer pricing methodologies.
Assist Business and Legal to develop new/maintain existing intercompany agreements.
Assist Team Lead in addressing process gaps, identifying inefficiencies, and helping embed a continuous improvements culture in the organization, which includes transfer pricing processes or joint processes with Business/Tax/Finance to ensure robustness in the implementation of transfer pricing policies.
Qualification, Experience, and Competencies
A university degree or professional qualification in accountancy or its equivalent. A tax qualification is advantageous.
Membership with the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia or Australian &/or UK &/or US equivalent is advantageous.
At least 8 – 10 years post qualification experience in tax and/or accounting role. Ideally with 6-8 years dealing with transfer pricing matters.
Good knowledge of transfer pricing, corporate tax, and accounting principles.
Analytical with good problem-solving skills, adaptable to work in different environments, and a team player.
Good communication skills are required to interface at all levels in the business community, with Tax and with external parties.
