Upwork has partnered with one of their enterprise-level clients, a full-service data company, as they are looking forskilled translatorsfluent inMalayalam and Englishto help with urgent, ad-hoc translation requests from Malayalam to English.In this role, you will help native English individuals understand what is being discussed in videos hosted on an online video-sharing platform, as well as all the cultural connotations that might be implied.
Job DescriptionDeliver top-notch translation of the provided video within a shared Google doc.
Ensure translations reflect cultural understanding and context needed to understand metaphors, slurs, and slang.
Leave notes where specific and detailed sensitive language is mentioned.
Ensure that the names of the speaker and listener are included if it is a conversation between two or more persons.
QualificationsRequirements:
Proficiency in Malayalam.
Attention to detail and exceptional written and communication skills.
Fluency in English.
Nice to have:
Professional translator experience.
Enrollment or completion of an undergraduate program in a humanities field or a field related to translation.
