About the roleAs an Underwriter Executive (New Business, JB) at Hong Leong Assurance Berhad, you will play a crucial role in evaluating and processing new insurance applications for the Johor Bahru region.
This full-time position offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic insurance organisation and contribute to the company's growth and success.
What you'll be doing
Underwrite and approve new business up to conferred authority.
Exercise responsible risk selection and complete the process within agreed service benchmarks.
Ensure that the underwriting requests processed are done prudently and in accordance with all regulatory and corporate requirements.
Support the manager in process improvement by continuously reviewing processes, identifying and resolving service gaps through constructive feedback, and implementing improvements where appropriate.
Assist in problem and complaint resolution.
Ensure complaints are resolved or responded to within service benchmarks.
Attend to enquiries from inter-department staff, Southern Region branches, and agency force.
Relieve other underwriters as required to ensure the underwriting service level is well maintained.
Act as a backup for branch operations and assume responsibilities as required.
Ensure compliance with policies, guidelines, and regulations.
Perform other duties as delegated by the Management.
What we're looking for
Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree, Professional Degree in Science, or equivalent.
At least 2 years of working experience in underwriting or relevant fields is required.
Possess knowledge of life underwriting for all types of benefits, life insurance practices, regulations and law - Insurance Act & Financial Services Act 2013, medical terms, diseases, mortality, morbidity, interpretation of diagnostic tests, risk selection methods, terms and conditions of policy contracts, insurance products, and definitions of covered events.
Excellent customer service skills, good communication skills, excellent team player, proactive, and keeps current with developments and changes in the underwriting field.
Applicants must be willing to work in Johor Bahru.
